I see that there are simpler rims to the Indy rims out there so maybe others have had the same issue?
My rims are in good shape but parts of them have a white oxidation like buildup on on the steel facing of the rims. I can scrape it off and the rim uder it is fine but I don't wont to scratch them or leave swirl marks. Anythone run into this and how did you clean yours?

Don't forget to clean the back too. Try some mag and aluminum polish first.

mag is short for magnesium. Initially magnesium alloy wheels were sought out for light weight to remove unsprung weight in replacement of stamped steel and wire spoke and rim. These wheels were prior to Aluminum alloy's. The term of Mag stuck well into the Aluminum years and died out in the late 1980's when Aluminum became common. Prior to the often used an incorrect terminology of RIM, Mag was the term used, though also incorrect as most were Aluminum alloy.
