i put my 16 in wheels on yesterday and it feels like there is a little strain on take off with some pull to the right. do i need an alignment? i always thought it didnt really matter.

Depends on how much buildup is on the mounting face of the hub/rotor/wheel.

what do you mean by "build up"?

Mainly rust. But there could be grease too. Or if there is a lot of grease build-up on the inside of the wheel.

Old tires, no matter how well balanced, will give you vibration. Especially if the tread is dry-rotted.

the wheels werent dirty that much on the inside and the tread is good. only thing i can think of that might cause a pull is air pressure. that is if it is NOT the alignment specs.

Dosent matter. It's just your tires causing the pull

did you go from a 195 14" tire to a 225 or 205 16" tire?

Contact patch and sidwall stiffness changes greatly so it will emphasize any alignment issues you may have already had.

i went to 205-16. the front is currently at 35 psi or maybe a little a lower since they sat up overnight with the bead leak. it is also pulling to the passenger side where the tire is that had the leak.

how much will the size change effect the gas mileage?

what was your original size? and remember the tire didn't change diameter, only the rim did, so really all you care about is overall weight but that will only affect acceleration since once in motion that shouldn't change any MPG readings.

195-65-15 was what i had on it. the acceleration change is quite noticeable but i dont drive that hard anyway. what about the tire air pressure?

35-40 is about where you want to be.

32-35 cold... no more than 40 when hot after driving for a while.

i just went from a 205/55/16 to a 205/65/15 i think they are 65... because i couldnt find cheap enough 16 inch snow tires, it shook like crazy and i went to my buddies shop yesterday to balance them and i had to add 2.25 and 3.25 weights on both sides of each rim LOL.. pretty big wheel weights .

I have 32-35 psi in all. i was running the 16's at 40 and it rode ruff you felt every bump and crack in the road, with the 15's the ride is so much smoother but has a little more roll on turning. the 16's hug the road alot better but for a smoother ride im starting to like the 15's.

I would make sure all of your tires have the same air pressure, and look for wear on them, if used.. ive had problems with alignment before and pulling weird and changed the tires and problem was solved, they could be worn on the edges from a previous car with bad ball joints or strut mounts ect.

Maybe change them around with the back ones to the front and see how it drives then.
