Back of the block you can follow the two wires from the ICM to it. It's held in with one 10mm nut.

Just an FYI that you can't tell if a fuel filter is "good" just by looking at it. Changing a Beretta fuel pump is straightforward, but not simple (been there, done that). That is why I suggested using the fuel pressure gauge and watching it. If the pressure nosedives at about the time the engine dies, then you have some solid evidence against the pump. I just don't want to see you shotgunning parts. (If you haven't already done so, go to www.autozone.com, register, and use their free online repair manuals.)

For the guys who have dealt with intermittent fuel pump problems (that result in the engine dying), would you smell gas immediately after the engine dies as the OP reports? Seems weird to me. Same goes for crank sensor, the engine dying due to a lost crank position signal should not make it stink like gas (would be like turning the key off).

I didn't turn it into a "debate" Jon. Just because I didn't cow immediately to your opinion and drop to my knees praying to you like a god who is always right. I hate seeing people jump to conclusions about stuff when the obvious answer is staring them in the face. I've worked on MY share of 2.8/3.1L and 3x00 motors as well. Probably more than you. Has what you said happened and SLIGHTLY possible? I'm sure it has a FEW times.

What is what the OP is describing 9 times out of 10? A bad fuel pump or a clogged filter. The other time it's usually a clogged cat. And one in a 1000 times, maybe it's a weak CKPS, but it would be new to me.

Took a couple of unnecessary shots at me there just because you didn't like my opinion didn't you? I don't recall making those kind of remarks in MY posts...............

Felix:

I meant to agree with PGH earlier. A fuel test or "leakdown test" as it's called will also help verify things.

Changed the crank sensor it is the same. Now the car only cranks then it sounds like it is about to start then shuts down. it does not stay on anymore. Im starting to think it is the ICM. Changed pump also same as well. have not check pressure.

I would sell it to you if it would not run. LOL. Thanks EVERYONE!. I finally got it working. :Yahoo!: It was the damn fuel injectors. I do not know exactly which one but I changed all of them and it fired up like it should. DAMN BEAST. LOL. (Took the Muffler out it's bad). THanks to everyone that posted. You guys helped narrow down what it was. :Yahoo!: 8)

Well, I was HALF right. :P It was a fuel problem. Probably wouldn't hurt to change that fuel filter out bud.

I'm betting the pump was weak as well and not supplying the injectors (although weak) with enough fuel pressure.

Glad you got it fixed.

they sound like a beast without a muffler LOL, i changed mine a couple times i had a cherry bomb that went from the axle to the bumper it was pretty long, sounded decent, but i got a stanless muffler for free that was brand new and put that on, i wanted to just put a straight pipe on with no muffler lol, dont think i would get far before getting pulled over but it would have sounded sweet

They sound pretty good with a Magnaflow High Flow racing Cat and a 40 series muffler too. :D

My GT-T with that exhaust right after I bought it.

that sounds pretty good, mine with the glass pack slapped like yours does in the vid. but yours sounds a little deeper. i have a ractive stainless muffler now with like a 4 inch tip thats part of it, it was free. it sounds like a glass pack but more echo with the tip. i also have a aftermarket cat thats half the length of the stock one.

When its warmed up good and im driving around and down shift its nice and rumbly and snaps and kicks sounds good to me but everyone has their own preference. the 3.1 is a pretty snappy engine though.

What do I owe you for the crank sensor? I am curious tho if it was lacking fuel or had an injector stuck and was getting flooded hence the rich fuel smell and stumbling.

Gotta work off of whats posted and that's sometimes hard. Going by the readings he gave for fuel pressure and my experience with a bad pump they just didn't go together. But even still I was wrong.

Dont worry about the crank sensor. I got it for free. I agree that it is hard to diagnose a car when you are not present. It was hard for me to determine what it was especially because i do not have the tools. I never found out why the injector were failing. They looked good. The good thing is that it is running.

That's strange... Any time I had the fuel injectors fail it would kill the car completely. Most often the windings would short out in them, you could tell this by measuring the resistance across the terminals.
