90 Indy starts and stalls immediately

I picked up a 90 Indy for my gf's son, it starts and stalls immediately. But every so often I can get it to run for a couple minutes, fuel pressure is 40 with prime and drops to 37-38 at idle. I bought a new pump but I am hesitating that the pump is actually the problem, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Auto or Manual?
Codes present? What does the computer read out?
More detailed information on what the environment is at which it happens.
Cold and warm (operating temps) ? , in all gear ranges, or just certain ones?
Performance outside of when it stalls? Slow, dead spot in throttle? etc

Auto, I've never gotten the car to run long enough to warm it up. No codes, have the pump so I decided to drop the tank and change the pump. When I can get it to run as soon as I press any throttle it dies immediately, thanks for the reply

I figured it out, one injector was bad replaced with 6 off a parts motor

Odd. Usually a 3.1 will run on 4 working injectors.

5 were at 11.9 and one was 5.6, the other six ranged 11.8-12. It runs good now

One injector can kill a whole bank on MPFI... I know it made it nearly impossible for my Indy to run with a bad one.

If the system’s compromised by a fault of just an injector, but the engine is healthy otherwise, it raises concern when one injector can impact whether the engine maintains the ability to operate (with downed performance) or has trouble staying operating at all. Another component[s] may have degraded to a point and soon to expose another troubling performance issue. That is my take on it.

Well my point is it's not just one injector... The low Ohm's on one injector in parallel with the rest will screw up the whole bank of three and it may not be able to fire them when you open the throttle, resulting in a large lean condition and stalling. So what I meant is one injector fault could theoretically kill 3 of 6.

I pick up what your putting down Jon. We were coming at it from different point of views. Nice to see it conveyed from the other side of the fence.

This has been my experience on multiple occasions with my various 2.8s.

I had the same problem on my 2.8 one down on each bank and it would instant stall.

Mine wouldn't start at all thanks to ONE injector...

Mine would start but idle was all over the board and if I put my foot into it at all it died instantly.
