Yet another cooling problem post
Sorry I didn't want to whore in on someone elses post. So tonight after a month I have my Beretta legal with the state and we decide to go out of town. I have drove this car an hour home when I bought it, and drove it around town tonight. But when I got on the higway the temp gauge went above the red line and stayed there.
I pulled off and the engine bay was cool. I could even put my hands on the intakes. I did take off the resevoir cap and there was smoke coming from there. I turned around and drove the car 30 miles back home. I sure hope this problem is in the cooling system. The engine ran perfect all night, and did not blow out any smoke.
I will try to flush system tomorrow night, and put in a new thermostat. Does Ac delco make a 180 degree, or do I have to buy the hypertech for that?
I also do not remember the fan running.
If this does not work, does anyone have a 3400 I can borrow?

Started car today near 12 hours later and then temp gauge has not moved. I'm guessing bad sensor.
Will still do the dexcool and thermostat to prepare for winter.
Wish me luck.

get one from gm for a cavalier twin cam. You will notice a reduction in how well the heat works but its not to bad.

I think it calls for a 195 or 190. but you could run a 160 in the spring through fall.
