would the supercharger from a cobalt SS fit on a 2.2L beretta? they are both 2.2L engines and they are both GM, i was wondering because i have a friend that got rear ended in his cobalt SS, and he said he'd sell me the supercharger for $100 and if it would fit would it be worth it?

Since no one has replied I guess Ill take a stab.

Anything will fit if you have money and time.  Now a bolt on. I just don't see it.  I can be wrong as I don't know a whole lot on those cars.  But I did do some researched (google).

Results:

2.2L Performance Tech 16 valve 145 hp EcoTec with 155 lb-ft of torque Ecotec 2.2L I4 2007 (L61)

It's not the same engine.  I have a 1991 2.2L out of a Beretta and from the pictures I have found still they don't look close.  

Now don't take my word 100% on this. There are a lot of smarter guys/girls here so wait and see if I get burned or not.

haha your guess is as good as mine, and i looked at his engine and didnt think it would be a bolt on , but i figured i'd ask to see if someone had done it or something before i told him no, or bought it

u should be able to swap it in ur car but u will have to be able to tune it also pendin the yr of ur car

It would require a TON of work to get that supercharger to work.  Anything can be done, but it's all how much time, effort and money you put into it.

yes, two completely different motors other than the size.

eh it's not that hard you just need someone who will weld cast and billet aluminum(takes about 10-15 yrs. experience to do it well)  for you at little to no cost. after that depending on your cars year you need bigger injectors, a 2 bar map sensor, new fuel pump, good condition rebuilt motor, a chipped and tunable ecu, a new length belt, lots of little bits and pieces, and about 5 grand

I like the last bit. 5 grand, but if he can get the supercharger for really cheap he might beable to do it cheaper. I would have to have the car to see if its possible. so i dont know

haha the supercharged Eco is a 2.0L anyway. these engines aren't even remotely close. 2.2 OHV' intake manifold is against the fire wall and the eco's is on the front side. If I'm not mistaken the supercharger is combined with the intake manifold. a better route would be to go with the GM performance parts supercharger for the 2.4 twincam engine... I think. or just turbo it, it's easier to fab that than a supercharger.

The supercharger for the Ecotec does unbolt from the manifold.  The one for the 2.4 does not.

actually i got my supercharger for 250 bones from a junkyard so ok like 4 three quarters grand  also yeah it is possible but you need one trick piece of machining to make it really work oh and one hell of a strongly built motor.  get yourself a friend with a good 5 axis cnc mill and have him mill the neck on the supercharger maniflod and put an adapter spacer on it. you need some GOOD aluminum welding done and maybe a few tubular bits then a new belt and bigger injectors/adjustable fuel pressure regulator and you could have it running.but hell just put the whole damn DOHC motor in your car. if it was rearended you have all the pieces and that would be a very bitchin beretta.

The layout of the 2.2 is much better for turbocharging than supercharging anyways.  I wouldn't even bother with a SC, especially the one off the Cobalt.
