dude i cant for the life of me find a DHP for sale lol, is there any other tuner i can get besides HP that's available and can be used with maybe a ECU swap?

It's an option if you can't find what you want with OBD2.

OBD2 will bandaid some tuning ills a little better because of the MAF, and in our cars it is also SFI vs MPFI, but I don't think there is a big difference in capability between the two.

Yes it is a downgrade since obd2 is the newer version of obd1, and the only reason I don't want to use DHP is cause I can't find one, and I don't wanna use HP tuners cause it's way more PLUS the credit system.

HPTuners comes with enough credits to tune 4 vehicles right out of the box.

Everyone has their opinion on OBDI and OBDII upgrade vs downgrade...

I feel OBDII is a better solution IF You are already starting with it... I would never suggest going back to OBDI on a 94+ car... no way.

The other option you have I believe is tunercat... I remember they added OBDII support not long ago and I think they support one of the ECU's that will work on our setup.

I take that back... TunerCat sold out to Jet Chips and they don't support any cars with a V6... Ass holes.

Tunercat has a list of V6 cars suported with VDF files but Jet wont sell it as supporting any of those... Might want to get a hold of TunerCat and ask them why they show these two VDF options

OBD2_23 1996 V6 Chevy*/Buick/Pontiac* 3.1, 3.4, 3.8L (*except Camaro/Firebird)

OBD2_24 1997 V6 Chevy*/Buick/Pontiac* 3.1, 3.4, 3.8L (*except Camaro/Firebird)

Yet you can't find that support on Jet's website.

I sent Jet a message asking why they don't list vehicle support that their original software creator does.

Found a good community that knows their crap on rettas cause as we all know they are cool looking cars with a great stock engine....but they are a absolute bitch to turn that engine into a monster, I guess I'll just try to find a DHP or if anyone could let me borrow one after I get turbo and everything installed so I can get a turbo map on there. But I'll figure that out in the near future.

I'm chatting with Jet right now asking why TunerCat shows support for 96 and 97 vehicles with their software but Jet wont show it as a option when you select that vehicle... I'll keep you updated.

There is no such thing as a turbo map either... This is all custom. No one has a base file for anything since modifications are not heavily documented on here, or done for that matter. So any and all tuning you will have to do will be one off and custom for your unique setup. Welcome to my world, I've been working on my tune since 08 and it's forever changing when I discover new ways to do things and change the setup here and there.

I was looking for some V6 support that they listed on their site and I was wondering why you did not offer any of the V6 vehicles they did. I feel that is a bit of a downgrade on the software aspect if you completely dropped the support. Right now the only option for a tuner for my application is HPTuners and I would much rather use Jet/Tunercat to do my tuning. 1997 Chevy Monte Carlo V6 3.1L is the support I'm looking for. Thanks.

Go to the OBDII VDF page, under v6 cars there is OBD2_23 and OBD2_24 that support 96 and 97 OBDII applications.
