Hi guys I'm new to the forums, My name is Case nice to meet you all. I'm building a turbo beretta with the 3100 sfi V6 engine, and i don't know what aftermarket ECU is compatible, do megasquirts or any other aftermarket tuneable ECUs work with my beretta or is there a affordable tuner so i can reflash the stock ecu?, if anyone could shed some light for me that would be great.

Megasquirt is sold to work on almost any platform because you build it to support your engine using the inputs you want. However if you wish to keep a stock harness and play with some of the capabilities of the stock style ECU I would suggest finding a DHP for sale somewhere, OR a HPTuners and buy support for a 97 Monte Carlo. DHP will be unlocked becuase they are out of business but HP you still need to buy for the specific application. Once you have one of the suites you can get a 1997 ECU from a Monte Carlo and begin tuning.

Once you get to that state I can help you out a bit but that should give you some information to make a decision.

Don't you have to deal with some credit bull**** with HPtuners not to mention they are like 600$?, and DHP where would I find one and what's their price range?

Yeah that is right, DHP price will vary from 300 to 400 I'm sure but check out club gtp or other wbody forums. They were very popular with the 3800 crowd.

So a DHP and a 1997 monte ecu?, what about something to reflash? Anything out there for our cars?

That will do that the DHP is an OBDII flashing/logging tool... if you use the 97 ECU I can provide you with a 97 Venture bin file that will flash on that ECU and run the car... you can then use DHP to tweak the settings, or Tiny Tuner which supports DHP bins and has more tables mapped.

Tiny tuner is just a free application that's used to edit the ECU configuration and see tables that maybe DHP doesn't have mapped out, you then use DHP to flash it to the ECU in the car.

Ah I see, so how good is DHP? Like what all can you tune, is it infinite credits? Is it universal for other cars for future builds or friends?

Right now DHP has no credit system, not car lockout so anything GM FWD V6 from probably 96-05 or 06 I think it was is supported... I don't remember if there is any DHP list out there but yes you can tune friends cars as long as they are supported or you can find a bin file that DHP has mapped out. Not every OSID is supported but if you find the latest OSID for that year/car you can flash that over whats on the ECU so you can tune it. I buy 97 ecu's from monte's and Ventures and just flash them with the file I'm currently using so I have a few spares... Just in case one does die or something.

Operating system ID... Just how they ID'd revisions to calibrations. DHP grabbed the latest OSID's for the cars they supported and mapped those out in the software so if you download a OSID from a car you have and it says it's not supported it may not mean the car itself, it just means that revision of the calibration is not, so you would have to ask around to see if anyone has a supported bin file for that car and then you would just flash that over whats there and tune on.

Ah I see, so is tiny tuner free on the site or do I need to find somebody selling a DHP with a disc?

DHP software is available from 60degree's website since DHP is long since gone... And tiny tuner can be found by a simple google search. It's a third part application that someone else designed.

All you need is a DHP cable and you can get the software easily.
