Re: easiest power upgrade
Easiest is, Exhaust, full system from manifold back... Stock downpipe is 1 7/8" diameter... 2 1/4 system would accent it nicely... high flow cat, and straight through design muffler, Dynomax and such. Next item is a free flowing air intake, WAI or a CAI will do, Each design has its different gains. And lastly, a 3400 top end swap will wake up a 3100 any day.
Re: easiest power upgrade
With all those mods Jon listed you could probably run a mid 15 on a good day.
Another thing I recommend would be using newer 3400(and some 3100) exhaust manifolds. The rear one will flow much bettter, and you would be doing a full exhaust anyway so making a new DP is no biggy.
But yeah, a 3100 with a bigport topend, manifolds, exhaust, and intake would probably beat a 3400 beretta that was stock otherwise.
Plus your motor is pretty low mileage...

Main reason why I recommended the top end swap for him over the full 3400 swap. You can continue to use your 3100 heads too if you didn't want to dig that far in. Doing the heads would gain you the roller rockers so you wouldn't have to clearance the intake for the stamped steel ones.Barry wrote:Plus your motor is pretty low mileage...
3400 manifold down pipe FTW! BTW this was made with ONE pipe and ONE cut... man I got lucky and the angle worked out perfect!!!
I did 2 1/2" to match my old exhaust.

Re: easiest power upgrade
The downpipe is a HUGE difference... and even more so with a 3400 rear manifold. I went to headers so I have a rear manifold if you want it.

Re: easiest power upgrade
A solid lower trans mount helps also. You will get off the line faster, but things inside your car may start to rattle(MRZ has them). I don't have them on yet, but I now have a MRZ under drive crank pulley and a over drive March alt pulley. If you get the 3400 intakes be sure that they are 2000 or up(they flow better). 3X00 has some great pics of where to grind your rockers and the 3400 intake if you stay with the 3100 heads. After I did the top end swap the engine pulled well at all RPM's. I have a 95 base with a 3100 by the way.

Re: easiest power upgrade
Thought there was one on the driver's side. It sure looks as if it's hooked up to the tranny.

Re: easiest power upgrade
It is on the drivers side. Its just one mount that can twist/pivot. Theres a upper and lower mount on the pass side that stops the twisting.
The stuff you were listing is for the older berettas

The dog bone I have was made by Isaac Hayes(MRZ has one like it). I know for sure that the pulleys will work on a 3100(6r8ph1X had them on his 3100 and I now have the same ones). The thing is you just need to put the crank pick up on the pulley to use it for 3100.
As a side note, I had a FFP dog bone for my 90GT and they are not the same.
