NEED PICS OF 5-Speed SHIFT CABLES!

Guys, I think the NAPA cables are SELECT cables only, not shift. And the two ones there, one looks like 87-91 style, and one looks like 92-93 style...

Are Fiero cables the right length? Rodney Dickman has custom 282 Fiero shift cables for sale....

See I knew i heard that info somewhere. On those pictures do they show the shifter side and the tranny side.

That's the post I got the info from. I would assume that they fit. Now Im wondering why we even have this topic. Those are custom cables and fit. I assume. Ill send him a PM. Never mind his profile says he has not been on awhile and same on Bstuff.

Rodney Dickman might have sold them to WCF..... IIRC Rodney's were a bit cheaper?

Huh. I def didn't look at the rest of the thread. I figured turbo = manual. Wrong I guess. Well I went to NAPA they didnt have my rad. at all in fact not in the state. They also could not tell me anything more about those shift cables. Basically what is online. He asked me what length i needed. So I am thinking Isaac is right. Not that I doubted you. I hope to call P&P tom. But Id like to get the most info i can get so I don't sound stupid.

Yup, not everyone thinks thats the best solution.

Hell Rodney is having Eric's trans guy build him a 60e/65e hybrid for his turbo and ditching the 5-speed.

Paid in advance and non return:
47.6 in. $233.79 shifter lever P/N 10186817
50.4 in. $202.38 selector lever P/N 10186820

Napa length are 50.875" (selector) and 51.125" (shifter) Those are for a 1991. - need to explain more.

I went to RockAuto parts and used the GM PN to cross and I got:
10186817 = DORMAN Part # 16655 - Shifter Cable (Napa cable) - 51.125" 1991-88 General Motors (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chevrolet/GMC Truck, Oldsmobile, Pontiac)

10186820 = Can't find parts.

I went to Dorman site and looked up some info:

Shifter Cable

THIS IS FOR 88-91!!

I want to make sure I get the right length before I start calling for custom cables.

Is Rodney for sure going through with the auto swap? He would be best off getting a 65-e HD like nocutt has. It's possible to run it on OBD1 even with a trans controller from some truck (i forget details) or go OBDII and run the whole thing. Thing is it's so much weight up front. Nocutt I can see going with the 4t65e because the 3800 needs a machined F-body fly wheel and a bit more work to go to 5spd than the 60*'s do, but totally do-able.

If Alxsmt can run a 13.6 and has traction in 2nd and 1st on the street with the right tires though, that's good news for me with a similar build. I can also run the spark retard until XX MPH so from a dig I can dial it in to the threshold of wheel spin until it gets to a certain MPH then it unleashes fully. That way you can just floor it and go like an auto...

The doorman ones fail mechanically I've heard very soon after installing. I wonder if they are failing cause they are cheap/thin or because of lack of heat tolerance. From the Fiero cable descriptions, heat is a big issue with them.

I'm going to wrap the piss out of my cables especially when headers are installed. I'm thinking fiberglass with aluminum around that maybe even that silver mylar stuff that has bubble wrap in it that insulates and reflects heat.... I don't care if it makes them look silly or huge, I don't wait failure...

From what I was told, he is doing a 4t60e/65e hybrid that Billy Clark makes up. I guess he has one in his 3800 SC Grand Prix, before they did the 65e's and both Eric and Rodney were impressed with how well it ran and how strong it is.

I'm still not 100% sure he is doing it, I'm just going off a PM I got from Eric that he wanted to go that route.

Dont worry about the different lengths, they still work. It make header clearences hard to compensate for though.

Like I said, I laid 3 GM shift cables next to each other and they were all different lengths
