Looking good!  A few mods and some tuning and you can be in the mid 30's MPG like my 2000 coupe.  Got to love 6th gear for the MPG. ÂÂÂ

Yeah, but how many looks to you get driving the XLR?

I dunno about up there, but down here, you NEVER see them out and about... maybe the stupidly rich bank people down here prefer to blow their money on Benz, BMW, Audi, Jaguar, and Aston Martin...

That is the plus from that.  It gets a ton of looks from the C6 drivers... and especially those in the cars you mentioned, especially the convertibles.

I've put like 2000 miles on it in the past few weeks.

It is all about rpms, driving style, and a little tuning.  Strictly highway cruise at the speed limit on long trips the C5 with headers, lean tune, and about 200 lbs ÂÂÂ
weight reduction will chug along at 1400 rpms where the CTS-V has a shorter 3.73 gear and a few hundred pounds and pulls 1700 rpms.  The Vette will see indicated 38.5 average, 36 MPG on paper.  The V showed 29 on the computer and 30 on paper with just a lean tune.  Not bad for 400 hp!

I got 449 miles on my last tank, thats 4 states, I filled up in some podunk town outside of Dayton OH and drove all the way to my place in Charlotte.

Thats driving around ~75 the entire way too.

Thats almost double the milage I got out of my GAGT.

What is cool is filling up and seeing a range of 600+ miles!  The Beretta should have as good or better cd also. ÂÂÂ

jeeze, small world....

I havent been on Bnet for quite a while, Bstuff a lot but not over here. havent read up on this thread for even longer. But in that time started to search for a CTS-V and have actually read that thread of yours on cadillacforums a few times not realizing it was the same Norm of Bnet fame

I was considering one with slight damage to fix, but then the bank gave me double the $ I asked for picked up a S/C'd CTS-V in august from the Seattle area (god bless Microsoft and Boeing employee's and their disposible incomes) this August and have had a blast driving it. Its got everything I'd ask except tint and exhaust wich will be fixed this winter. Should be 500rwhp on the stock 3.0 pulley.

Congrats on another V owner! I did see your same screen name on the V forums.  SC can make a world a difference as I did with the 2.8/3.1 Beretta. ÂÂÂ

A stock Maggie setup is good for about 100 whp over stock, so figure just under 450 whp. Should trap the 1/4 with 4000 lbs. of heft low 12's @ 115-117 MPH.  Nothing like the lap of luxary and power to match.  My 05 with some weight reduction, intake, and tuning is trapping in the 113 MPH range based on running a friend's C6 Z51.  More to come!

Not sure if I'll have enough room under the hood of the Beretta for Maggie or hybird of GM's Blue Devil/ZR-1 when I am done.  Got to finish mounting the Beretta on the C5 frame and it is down hill from there. ÂÂÂ

The Vette is around 2900 lbs and as a road course car will stay normally aspirated.

lugnutz made me do it!

After numerous measuring angles of fitting the C5 convertible frame under, it is just too big by 4-5 inches on the width everywhere.  I really wanted this to work rather than try to make something to tie in the suspension and add more weight in the process.  The Beretta is just too narrow and the whole frame would have to be widen to fit.  Just too much that I did not want to get into.

So on to other new projects....another CTS V-series.
