I just got a 88' beretta A/T with the 3.1 swapped into it. How good is the 3 spd autos in these? could a auto 4 spd be put in? if it can will there be any speed gains? just wondering, thanks for any help

4spd auto is electronically controled. My 94 has one, and the gear ratio is very high (read it's not geared low, slow off the line/etc) It would be a ton of work. I'd swap a manual if you are goign to swap anything.

The 3 speed (?3T40?) is not a bad trans in my opinion.  I like the gearing and the city driving.  I just use my 5 speed GTZ for the highway (when I get that back up and running) .
