Yes you can add one.  How fast you need to go determines if you need one.

A stock 2.8 runs about a 16.8 1/4 mile

You'll have to ask some other guys what the stock 2.8 turbo Grand Prixs used to run.

It's just a 2.8MPFI, nothing special.  I am sorry, but all you have with that GTU is a appearance package, FE3? suspension, alloy 16" directional wheels, & premo sound (tape player, uplevel speakers) .

With the TGP setup (WITH modification to make it work) , you'll be somewhat faster.  Although if you do all that, you minds well do a 3400swap (DO A SEARCH) and then turbo that.

All beretta 2.8s are technically "high output."

could you swap a 3.1 turbo into a 2.8 beretta if you swap the ecu and wiring harness? And without worrying about motor mounts? Or are the motor mounts on a 3.1 turbo different?

Finding the parts off a turbo grand prix that are in good condition is really hard to do. You need the manifolds, downpipe, oil lines and all that stuff. I think depending on the year you have the only issue is the tranny mount. Someone else can answer better than me but I thought 92 and 93 berettas were the only years that the TGP stuff "bolted" onto.
