LS1 valve springs, will they work?

Post by JeffD »

last night i broke a valve spring on the ol' 2.8. today at work i was asking the parts guy what LS1 valve springs cost. since I work At the dealership i can get Ls1 valve springs for a mere $1.52 each!! all I need to know is whether or not they will work with the old 2.8L
Quick Assistance! i need to have my car back!
(just for comparison stock springs cost over $6)

LS1 valve springs, will they work?

Check out www.60degreev6.com Search through the articles.

It should work since they work on the gen3 heads with a few other components (shim/seat/valve seal)

Another option would be to use a spring from a 3.1mpfi, or 3100 as I'm pretty sure they are the same. Since those are newer, it's probably cheaper.

But best to find out for sure on the gen2 heads... But a 3.1 mfpi spring will fit since it's the same head as a 2.8 aluminum.

alright, cool. i just figured out that i have spun a bearing, or so i think, just the engine is making a awful rattling noise, I checked out the top end on the front, that was when i found the valve spring problem. but  i started it up and and just a second or two after starting the rattle begins. luckily i wasn't driving when this started i had just checked and cleaned my injectors, after putting it back together i started the car, and a second later i heard this awful noise.

LS1 Valve springs for $1.52 each?  Are you sure your guy looked up the right part?  I know the dealership discount, cost + 10%, but there's no way in hell $1.52 a piece is right.
