3100/3400 cam???
Im looking to get a cam for my 3100 im doing a 3400 top end swap the car is only use for racing. This is dirt track racing mainly on the gas alot. Its a offroad road course track the starts are like motocross shotgun starts so would really like something that would help pull the car off the line quick and help get power quick out of corners. Also is there any stall converters for these cars it is a beretta auto trans by the way.
Any Help would be great.

Revmax is a good place for a converter and WOT-Tech is about the only place you'll be able to find a cam from. He can pair it up with whatever you want to do for a top end on the car, as well as what power you want.

A lower FDR could help too. If you have any questions 3X00 is a trans builder by the way.

Re: 3100/3400 cam???
That is possible but I typically don't recommend that for people with a beretta since in order to do that you need to find a different trans from a different car to get a 3.29 final drive, or if you work with your current one you already have the highest diff ratio so you would have to open up the trans and pull the drive and driven gears from 37/33 to 35/35 or 33/37. I have the 33/37 setup that puts my final ratio at 3.69 and my original one was 2.92. Doing that swap isn't that easy, and also requires ECU tuning to fix shift points and such. BUT ECU tuning will already be highly recommended if you do get a cam.

Yeah I had to get a Grand Prix trans just to get 3.33. Sure would be nice to have what you got 3X00. That 2.92 sucked bad, that FDR had to go.

Re: 3100/3400 cam???
The fun part is finding a 33/37 chain set, I know they came in Quad 4 96+ GA's I cant remember what year but they also had the 3.06 diff that I wanted at one time to test out the 3.42 final drive the first time I did this, then I upped it to 3.69.

Re: 3100/3400 cam???
In case anyone is wondering, Chevy's part department, in formed me that the cam for a 3100 and a 3400 is the same part number. So if you are thinkin that a stock 3400 cam is an upgrade, its not. Prolly not relevant to the topic, but since i thought about it, i figured i would post

Re: 3100/3400 cam???
cam is the same in a 3500 as well, but the PN did change depending on what year it was and what cam position sensor ring was used... Aftermarket ones I think all moved to the last revision of the locator ring. No one ever said he was going to use a 3400 cam anyways, he's using the large port top end and wants a different cam which would require a re-grind.

Re: 3100/3400 cam???
3x00 is there any issues with the trans not holding up the motor with the top end swap some port and poish work on exhaust and a mild cam. Should be mainly in 1st and 2nd only. Is there anything that can be done to make the trans more durable. Also thinking about a trans cooler would help it?? Races are about 10 to 20 laps of full throttle most cars start getting slower and slower.
