ALDL Cable problems

Post by Decipha »

I have a 95 3100 series base beretta... my abs light is on and won't go off for anything... so instead of me buying a scanner I was informed to get an ALDL cable... now I'm being told the ALDL cables don't work for the 95s computers.  Does anybody know how i can go about getting it to work?  Or should I just sell the ALDL cable?  I haven't been able to try it out yet since I don't have a laptop with a serial connection but I was hoping some one would know before I go through the trouble of getting one.  If anybody has a 95 beretta with a working ALDL cable or know how I can get the abs codes please enlighten me... I really need help ASAP my brakes barely work!

Because it is affecting his braking performance, duh!

EDIT: I just remembered the difference between effecting and affecting...

i posted in performace since the ADLD cable is mainly used as a performance upgrade to reprogram the computer, so I thought if I posted here it would be more relevant. Sorry

You'll need to find a store with the free loan a tool special and rent the scanner for the "1.5" setup.  Only 94-95 got the funky OBD1 with OBD2 conversion.  So all in all, take back the stuff you got, goto AZ or a like (call ahead) and have them for FREE scan your car.

Wrong, 94-95 is ODBI still. It's a funky setup with no removable chip, and no ODBII so no support for a DHP powertuner/etc.

Some call it ODB1.5 since it doesn't use the ODBI connector...
