Beretta Turbo Updates

Post by wicked-irocz »

(wicked-irocz @ Mar. 28 2006,16:18)QUOTEHeres my crossover and downpipe.

This is how it looked as I left home last weekend

Heres some of my progress this weekend

I currently have the crossover connected, turbo mount in, turbo in, turbo to intercooler plumbing finished, IAT wiring extended and installed, turbo intake done, intercooler mounted, intercooler plumbed through radiator support, factory fuel lines altered and reinstalled, O2 sensor wiring extended and installed, battery relocated, and Im sure theres more.  I have yet to cut a factory wire  , Ive been extending everything using factory plugs.  Ive drilled 2 holes for the battery mount, 1 hole for the battery cable, and made the factory hole behind the battery bigger, no other new holes yet.
Since I am unable to edit any of my previous posts that had pictures in them I am going to quote just the ones that had pictures in them.  I lost my website and was able to move them to a friends.  So THEY ARE BACK UP

I think it looks great!

But where are the dyno sheets and 1/4 mile times?

i would get a sealed battery. and a bigger port top end swap with roller rockers other than that awesome work.

any pics of your exhaust?  Did you do anything special with your PCV system or just the breather where the oil cap is?

keep  up the  good work, your effort really shows.

my deal for a optima fell through and the original battery that was in it when I bought it is still going strong so Im using that.  I also get good used batterys for free so I have a small supply of batterys with 1 sealled acdelco freedom I believe but freedom batterys go bad fairly often so I havent put it in yet.  I cant see spending money on something I dont really need.

One of the reasons I dont have a big port top end swap is that the cheapest I could find all the parts was just over $120.  I figure Ill save that money for a 3400.

You can see an outside pic of the downpipe, an under the hood pic of the downpipe, and the tip above.  What you cant tell is there are 4 bends in the downpipe: one to turn it to the driver side, one to angle it down, another to turn it towards the passenger side and the last to turn it back up to meet the flex.  I made that hanger out of two hangers welded to a clamp and secured it using SS hardware in the factory bracket that holds the heat sheild up.

The PCV system has two breathers with the front one on a check valve so it only opens when there is enough crankcase pressure for it to open so therefore the PCV still operates as usuall until then.

Beretta Turbo Updates

I like the mounting setup you did for the exhaust pipe.  I was thinking of doing something similar for mine, yet i didn't know how i would go about doing it.  That looks like a great starting point to work from.  I'll make something up like that when i get my headers installed.

(z284pwr @ Oct. 04 2006,18:07)QUOTEWell, how does it run now?!?!?!

Oh and how is the transmission doing?
Actually, looking at this again, I have about 10 CAI/muffler dyno pulls and about 20 turbo dyno pulls on this engine/transmission.

I can get a 3400 with 33000 miles for a little over $200 but my engine is still going strong so Im going to wait.

Beretta Turbo Updates

Post by wicked-irocz »

a little update.

I keep forgeting my dyno sheets at my parents house.

8 weeks ago or so my pickup developed a oil leak out of the valve cover gaskets and was making a noise in the left front that seemed to be a bearing issue plus my dad started using it for fall harvest so I began driving my beretta.  I drove it for 7 weeks straight with no issues yet.  I got 21 mpg with mostly city driving, 25 mixed, and 28 mostly highway.  While I was driving it there was a day where it snowed pretty good and they put salt down near my parents house but not by my place but just last week they put salt down all over so its in the shop right now.

I drove my dad's bonneville last week and got my truck together finally (though it decided to leak a bunch of coolant too that I had to fix) and I changed to my steel wheels so Im driving that now.

The car may be inside but with relatives around someone let the twins (cats, not the baseball players) in and although they couldnt jump high enough to get on the truck they tracked dirt all over my car    so its messy now.  I'll have to wash it when I get to the shop again.

I havent washed it yet so I dont know about that but I dont think so.

Is this a recent occurance for you rex??

I do have a couple small scratches on the beretta and a single one on my truck from cats though and the paint on my truck was over $500 a gallon.

heres what youve been waiting for, I finally remembered to grab it from home. ÂÂÂ
The Flywheel numbers are based upon the car making 160 hp (the stock rating) with a CAI
and a glasspack so it is probably conservative.
