What bin file is flashed to the ECU? What injectors are you running? and did you adjust for different injectors in the bin if you did change them?

1988gtu - I have been thinking fuel problems from the beginning. The engine is a 3400 but has 3100 injectors in it. (17lbs) FPR is set at 0.4591472. The only thing that I'm not sure about it do I set it to my injectors or the engine size. Also the car had a 2.2L 4 banger in it. Fuel pump never was changed. I'm wondering if it can't handle the volume. Before I left last night I did get a fuel pressure reading. 26 psi and bleeds off to 21psi. This is just the prime pressure. Running it gets to 38psi. I don't have my manual at work so I'm not sure if that is alright.

Moneypit - I'll adjust the clamps tonight. They are tight. Had to cut out some of the boot to get the MAF on.

Mod - Flashed a 1996 Beretta BIN file. 17lbs 3100 injectors. No mods done to engine.

It should reach over 40PSI with prime pressure. 26 is way too low. And what do you mean by do you set it to your injectors or your engine size? The table is for Injector Flow Rate. It should read the value that comes stock for a 96 OBDII Beretta since your using stock injectors. In the end they will be slightly undersized for peak power but that should not change starting or idle quality.

I get what the table is, but I was thinking if the injectors are smaller than the stock 3400s then increase the flow rate to make up the difference. Still learning. But seems like I have fuel pressure problem so I'll check that out tonight.

It's a static value of the part itself... don't enter the value in wrong otherwise it will have to correct elsewhere. Telling the ECU it can flow more when it really cant only makes it run worse because it will shorten the pulse width when trying to start until it learns it needs to re-widen it to compensate for the incorrect flow rate.

Good maintenance upkeep in fuel filter replacement is always last to be done; How old is your fuel filter?

2.2L pump will support a stock 2.8/3.1/3100/3400 no problem. IIRC, the flow rate is the same or real close to the 3.1 V6 pump.

Mod - Good to know. Is it like a calibration code...

1988gtu - I actually just bought one. I was going to start with replacing the filter and work my way up. Filter is plenty old on time, but it doesn't have much run time. Good to know about the fuel pumps.

Only if it's a MPFI. A 2.0/2.2 TBI (87-91) pump would only see 20 or so PSI if you're lucky.

I think Cliff is correct. According to the manual for the 2.2 fuel pressure should be at 20 max. I have even looked up fuel pumps for the 91 2.2L and they spec out at 20 psi max. While the 96 3100 max out at 90 psi. 41-47 is in range. Looks like I will buying a fuel pump.

Good to know. The 2.2's I've tested fuel pressures on were not virgin's and probably had a pump replaced with what ever was ots.

The injector spray pattern should give even more proof.

I would assume the spray would be droplets and not fully atomized. I will order the fuel pump when I get home.

I wanna do a quick log if I'm able too.

Been busy doing side jobs to help fund the car project. Timing belts up the ace!

So I have been looking around and seeing what my options are. I am thinking about getting a inline fuel pump. Finding a FP to fit my tank and the pressure I want is proving to be a pain. Any ideas?

AGAIN... everybody wants to over think the damn fuel pump.

I ran mid 13's N/A on a 20 year old, original stock 3.1 pump on my much modified 3500.

6700 RPM shift points and it never missed a beat!

Maybe you have to go to the dealer and ask for the Canadian Spec unit! ROFL!

Jeesh
