Re: W-41 crate motors
I would never ask a minivan owner what was under the hood! lol Even if a factory W-41 minivan DID exist, it would still be slow as crap because they weigh about 1,000lbs more than a W-41 442! I bet those LD2 5 speed Euro Pontiac Trans Sports were major turds! EPIC FAIL! lol1990BerettaGTZ2.3L wrote: Could you inmagine pulling up to a redlight an hearing a w-41 lope from a van and saying to the guy hey buddy what you got under the hood and he said a w-41 that would be the finniest thing gm would have ever put out for the application of car haha

A 91-92 W-41 Quad 4 makes 190hp and 160tq
The whole W-41 thing is WAY overrated and people willing to pay $200-$400 dollars for USED camshafts to add a measly 10hp is retarded! I can spend the same amount on a used nitrous kit and run a 50 shot making 5X the added power as the used cams do! lol

Re: W-41 crate motors
Well Pat's rex 2.0 has not been dyno'd yet at a full tune, but he's one with a turbo to ask on that... I know there were some others but I have no idea where they went to.
That's in a Beretta though... I know there are tons of turbo'd quad 4's on the quad 4 forums.
nukkinfuttz is still around and thats another turbo'd gtz.

its W41 and not W-41
Like it is not Z-04 ...Z-51 or F-E3
W41 in a U body? I am pretty sure they were LD2 Quad's.

Re: W-41 crate motors
People have gotten 500+ horsepower out of turbo quads. None of the ones that made that kind of power had boring W41 cams though. lol96B-Mike wrote: lol true...what i mean by "maxed out" like someone fully built one Intake/headers/boost..blah blah blah
I know RPO's don't have dashed in them, lol, but I'm going to keep using dashes now just to annoy you! Time to go to town in my L-GO Z-26!ErichZ26 wrote:its W41 and not W-41

And yes Erich, I thought I had the Euro quad minivan thing covered pretty well already, but thanks for your insight! lol

Re: W-41 crate motors
Brett your always such a smart ass lol I would say jk but then I'd be lying lmao but serously I might be building up a brand new high output crate that I found for sale over on the quad forums for $600!!!!! He's 100 mikes south of me in Pittsburgh ohhh yeahhhh I can't wait my sweet GTZ will be done in no time, I'm gonna add some things like arp rod studs, head studs, and hg2 cams and run her, think I'm gonna run oil that has zinc on it so it lasts forever and the parts don't wear out like bearings and such, zinc if you didn't know is a wear protection adder, it's old skool and what they used back in the day on the older engines, unlike this junk oil they lake today, plus zinc provides the oil with more lubrication because it's alot more slippery of oil if you feel the difference between reg oil and zinc oil like royal purple and valveoline I think it's VR1 racing oil?, anyways you know how expensive this stuff is and it's good ass shi* the valvoline I'm running in my 327 in my chevelle right now because it's a fresh motor with less than 500 miles on her since I got it back from my buddy that spent 2 1/2 years building her for me , .030 over that was a standard bore to begin with which is quite rare for a 68 327, and 11:1 compression, iron heads for now soon to be aluminum when I have $1200 of free spending cash, and it's all balanced factory rockers can't remember what came when went with but she's got alittle lope with my 4.10s well anyway way off topic, when I can get another $850 my junkyard near me can get me a w41 in, and it's a 1992 and it'd the only one that's in inventory in the country she be a nice rebuilder to high performance specs I want possible turbo, maybe standalone fuel system, big cams like over 226 not too sure yet on that maybe 7:5:1 compression or 8:1 not sure what I can get away with

Re: W-41 crate motors
I guess being a smart ass is better than just being an ass! LOL I tend to push buttons and joke around with somebody more if I actually know them in person than not. Without a lil trash talk, drama, BS and joking around, the internet and especially forums would become monotonous and boring!!!1990BerettaGTZ2.3L wrote:Brett your always such a smart ass lol I would say jk but then I'd be lying lmao but serously I might be building up a brand new high output crate that I found for sale over on the quad forums for $600!!!!! I can level with your logic about buying a good priced LG0 crate and modding it a bit. But your idea for that junkyard W41 has me baffled!? Why on Earth would you spend $850 for a W41 re-builder and remove every part that makes it a W41? Just go buy a cheap LO from a pick n pull yard for $100-$300! Your ramblings really confuse me sometimes! You really gotta think things through a little more before you type up these giant run-ons full of ideas with tangents that zoom off into left field without warning! Just sayin! lol

Re: W-41 crate motors
Building Quad 4's can get expensive.
finding them in yards organized by LGO vs W41 is nearly impossible. Most of the time they are incorrectly organized.
The software they use organized by VIN A. So unless you can get into an SCX registry you often can have a hard time knowing you have a W41 or regular LGO.

Re: W-41 crate motors
Exactly! I worked at a salvage yard and nobody lists W41's as such on the Hollander interchange. The only way I was able to find some W41's was to look what VIN A's engines were available (from cars that could have W41's) and run the associated VIN number to see if it was a W41 car. Normal consumers DO NOT get the vehicles VIN numbers when they search yard inventories online. Also, even if you somehow find a W41 car, there is NO guarantee it's still intact and legit under the hood. The only way to know is a visual comparison of the cams vs regular HO cams or measuring the intake lobes and comparing measurements to a HO quad cam.ErichZ26 wrote:Building Quad 4's can get expensive.

Re: W-41 crate motors
Well before I quit Patterson auto wrecking and went to doin body work on heavy equipment and utility trucks they were changing over to car-part which means really reaching out on the parts search and inventory database. They were previously were Hollanders, and there was still Hollanders with car part but their paperwork they gave us parts pulleys got a whole lot more confusing. Go here Brett and search 1992 Achieva motor with w41 option http://www.car-part.com and the salvage yard that pops up is kinda near me it's called aumillets it list it's out of an SCX which they still have, I should pick up the tranny and motor combined just because of the gearing. But with your quote about buying a LO and building it, what motors had the 086 head? HO and W41? Guess how much junkyards want for a good High Output, $50 less than the w41 lol what the heck

Re: W-41 crate motors
I searched there like you said, and like I said, they usually don't list W41's or SCX's separately from an SC with an HO. The engine you mention is not listed in the results... BTW, I got eight results and none of them say SCX or W41... *edit* There is 1 listing for 93 that says W41, but it's almost 2,200 miles away from you in California! lol1990BerettaGTZ2.3L wrote:Go here Brett and search 1992 Achieva motor with w41 option http://www.car-part.com and the salvage yard that pops up is kinda near me it's called aumillets it list it's out of an SCX which they still have, I should pick up the tranny and motor combined just because of the gearing. All 90-92 LO, HO and W41's had the 086 head stock! 90-91 LO's also had the HO intake AND exhaust manifolds!
