i have a 1990 beretta base with the 3.1L MFI mated with an automatic and i'm wondering if it's possible to put a 3.8L camaro V6 in it's place, and if so, what i would need to do to make it fit

It is a rear wheel drive engine so it is next to impossible unless you have won the lottery lately.

Just swap a 3400 in from a newer GM front wheel drive. If you know how to do most the work yourself you could probably complete this project for under $1000, including the engine.

I don't really see why it being a RWD engine makes any difference... It's nearly the same as an FWD Series 3 3800... It could be done but like said a 3400 swap is much more practical.

In some instances, the RWD engines have the starter on the opposite side (like the RWD 60°V6).  Also, sometimes the engine blocks are different castings.  Not sure on the 3800 though.

02 camaro

Base Number of Cylinders: 6  Base Engine Size: 3.8 liters
Base Engine Type: V6  Horsepower: 200 hp
Max Horsepower: 5200 rpm  Torque: 225 ft-lbs.
Max Torque: 4000 rpm  Drive Type: RWD

the question is why even consider this swap? the 3400 is a FAR superior swap than the 3.8l with nearly identical hp/torque figures not to mention the power to weight figures, gas mileage, more aftermarket support, not to mention ease of the swap, but hey its your ride.
