For some reason I am thinking that the stock backing plates have adhesive on them and thats what is holding them in place even though the bolts are removed from the hub. I may be wrong though

The bolts hold the plates in place :-)

The Neon backping plates had RTV sealing them to the brackets. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of adhesive sealing the Beretta drum plates to the hub.

I went to the local yard today and spent a lot of time looking for the Neon rear disc setup... I didn't find any Neon rear setups but I did look at a few other Dodge FWD cars.

I went as far as removing a setup from a 1995 Lebaron GTC only to realize that the backing plate is totally wrong. It looks really similar, but the e-brake cable comes in from the bottom and as such, doesn't leave enough open space available to drill the required bearing/hub holes. Same story on a Stratus...

Looks like it really has to be from a Neon.

This may come as a dumb questions but wouldn't the backing plate be thicker and space your wheels out or are the backing plate only a little thinker? Just a thought

It does space the wheels out some, but it is minimal. Maybe 3/8". At first glance it doesn't look like rolling the fender lip is required with my wheels, but I may do it anyway.

my wheels 40mm offset and 225 tires rub the fender lips, so if you have similar specs you will see this for sure.

Mine are 40 or 42mm IIRC. Time to roll these too then.

Pull your springs out and send the suspension up to full compression to check, That's how I found out if mine did. It may be different on a pre 95 axle though I'm not sure.

Just looked it up...45mm. I had always noticed the rear of my car looked sucked in compared to the front. Could be an 87-94 thing.

No, they all look like that, the car tapers forward, if you were able to measure from the outer point of the fender flare to the other side you would be able to measure the difference but the car kinda gets in the way of doing that with a tape measure. And 45mm will make the tire appear further in than a stock wheel as well since stock is 42mm.

Not quite because his wheels are probably wider than stock wheels.

You will likely need to roll anyway. The rear lip where the bumper mounts is a pita

I bet its a 7" wide rim and with a 45mm offset it will be set further into the wheel well.

Yup 17x7 vs 16x7. No difference there. And the 205 stock tire to 225 is only 10mm difference to the outer edge. So it's maybe 1/2" further out than stock when you consider the 3mm difference in offset.
