Possible leather shift & ebrake boot group buy

Post by woody90gtz »

I sent George Paul at Softtrim Concepts an email last night about doing a possible group buy for leather shift & ebrake boots for the 91-96 console. He's the upholstery guy who did my custom Z seats and does a lot of prototype work for OEMs, so this is up his alley. I asked him for a recommendation on fastening the ebrake boot to the console since there is no retaining ring stock with our rubber slide. Not sure what price would be, he was fair with me. I'll keep this thread updated as I hear back.

Haha, I could not agree anymore with you, autos are just not fun to drive. Excluding the one that runs 12s on this site, I bet its fun to drive :p

LOL, I appreciate the recognition... Yes mine is fun to drive but I also have a 5-speed for my daily car. Mine is an auto due to it's function I want it to do. If it were an auto-x car it would not be an auto.

I'm in - I've always hated the silly rubber shift boot on these cars.

First prototype is done, and adjustments are being made. The ebrake boot has a plastic ring that will be drilled to use christmas tree push clips to hold it to the console. The boot will be sewn on the backside of the ring so it and the clips are not visible. The shift boot will be held in with the stock retaining ring from the console plate.

I also need to know from anyone who has a stock 5spd shifter: what is the measurement between the top of the shift plate and the bottom of the shift knob? My guess came out a little tall for mine, but I have a shortened arm and non-stock knob.

Hurst Camaro 6spd knob. And the ebrake knob is from a 3rd-gen Camaro. Mmmmmm leather.

Would it be possible to just get one for the shifter boot? I'd be interested in that:)
