"Bolt-on" Rear disk swap adapters group buy
"Bolt-on" Rear disk swap adapters group buy
Hi,
There is currently a group buy on http://jbody.org/ for custom calipers adapters to install rear disk brake. The common swap is Neon calipers/rotors but this adapter make it a bit different. You will need to use Saturn calipers with Neon (SRT4) rotors. That way you don't get the "hard to get working right" e-brake setup that you would otherwise get with the Neon setup as well as not the "oh crap I have to re-drill the rotors for 5x100 bolts pattern every time I want to change them" with the whole Saturn setup. The guy only need 4 payments to get the ball rolling so I thought it would have been easy but it doesn't seems to be as easy as I thought so I'm posting here to helpfully get some more people interested. I already sent my payment so if we can get three more people sending payment, we will get the ball rolling and all get a "bolt-on" rear disk swap with a properly working e-brake setup.
Thread link is below so feel free to add your name to the list and send the guy the money

Nice setup. Is complete payment required up front or partial payment?

He replied this to someone that asked pretty much the same question.
Send the money when you can. If you would like to send it in smaller amounts, that's fine, but I'm just not going to go order all of these until I've got myself covered for most of the costs. I will make sure any paid orders get filled, but I'm just not going to order 8 sets if I only have one paid for when the shop is ready to make them. I completely understand money is tight. It's tight for me as well, which is why I can't just order stuff that may sit for a couple of months waiting for payments.

I see, and is it basically what i am seeing the silver bracket?
what is the advantage of these vs the daytona/neon rear disk bracket? aside from availability..

Yes, that's the bracket. He can also supply the ebrake brackets (if you buy calipers without them) and braided stainless lines.
I don't have much experience with the Neon swap but I've read a LOT of issues with the e-brake on various beretta/cavalier sites. This e-brake setup works great and the stock cables works without modification. I guess that's why the guy made those brackets.
I'm not the one making them btw, I'm just interested in the group buy and thought some of you might be too...

Thanx for informing us!
Alot of us do the daytona swap but they are scarce these days, we swap over the neon ebrake cables and neon calipers with the daytona brackets

Yeah I have a kit ready to go in my closet (modified daytona brackets with SRT4 rotors and calipers) but I never got around to installing it and kept reading about e-brake issue. Now, I'm glad I've waited!
Re: "Bolt-on" Rear disk swap adapters group buy
My ebrake works perfectly with the daytona brackets afterbi bought the new lines, theres a thread somewhere here with infonin the swap

Yeah for people with a neon/daytona swap already working great, it won't help anything but for someone still using drums, it makes for an easy swap that will works great

I've had both the caliper pinch e-brake (vette rear calipers on my 95) and the drum e-brake... Sorry the drum e-brake is superior. All my Subies have that setup too.Barry wrote:Yay no stupid internal drum e-brakes!

Agreed...I have the internal drum ebrake on both my rear disc swaps and I like it. On the Camaro boards they always complain about the pinch type on TA brakes.
