Im gonna run 3x2 box (body rails) from the rear sub up to the fire walland tie a cage into that......im thinkin the cage will add all the strength I need but we will see......sub frame connectors cant hurt.....

Re: Beretta Z28
yeah i thought about IRS.......maybe one day.....for now the goal was/is to just to use as much of the z28 parts to save on $$$ and keep the z28 theme.......including the wheels........which i would have to see if the rims would fit on the vette rear end......if i start snapping axels i will look into a 12 bolt or IRS of some knid
Re: Beretta Z28
haha and yeah hope the comfort part will come together too........gotta get this thing back to a roller then the interior fab can begin
Re: Beretta Z28
Snapping axles? What beast do you plan on putting under the hood of this car? I am much more into the third-gen F-Bodies, with three of them still in the family, but even cars like the SS Camaro and WS6 Ran-Air Trans Ams with the modified LS1's cranking out 325 HP weren't noted for busting drivelines...jjanke wrote:yeah i thought about IRS.......maybe one day.....for now the goal was/is to just to use as much of the z28 parts to save on $$$ and keep the z28 theme.......including the wheels........which i would have to see if the rims would fit on the vette rear end......if i start snapping axels i will look into a 12 bolt or IRS of some knid

Re: Beretta Z28
yeah idk......not me but a guy i know.........hahahaha.....ive heard people say the 10 bolt rear ends are weak........idk :b
Re: Beretta Z28
Yes, they are, relatively speaking. But typically, traction becomes the issue. I worked with a guy who said he worked at GM's proving-grounds for a little while. Apparently, they run the cars full-throttle across alternating high-and-low traction surfaces (left and right wheels getting opposite surfaces at any given time) to try and break things. I guess with enough abuse, anything will prove to be a weak-link. But unless you are doing something really crazy, I doubt it will be a problem if your engine is even close to stock. On the other hand, I've never managed to snap one of my stock Muncie 282 CV axles on my 3800SC-powered GTU in the years I drove it before swapping to six-speed, so what do I know?
