Ditching the column shift 2nd-gen column for a floor shift 3rd-gen column with tilt and cruise. Also has wiper and dimmer switch on the column...much cleaner install. The stock firewall hole for 2nd gens is huge because of the shift linkage, that's all cut out and replaced with a plate I fabbed to stud the mounts so no fasteners are visible from the engine bay side. There are a ton on the driver side and they look like garbage. Gonna smooth the pass side as well. I'm getting this stuff mocked up so I can pull the car apart and put it on the rotisserie to finish stuff up.

I also decided to ditch the used Accel DFI setup I bought used. The harness was hacked up (not a big deal because I have the diagram for the whole thing) but it was also missing sensors & connectors...and the software sucks. I have some experience with EFI and that setup is not user-friendly at all (the technology is about 12 years old). So I bought a ECM & harness kit from Holley. It's their HP self-tuning wideband setup with a lot of capabilities...simple stuff like fan & reverse lockout control, all the way to nitrous control and water/meth injection. I'm gonna run it with a spare TBI truck distributor I have to start, but I'll probably go SFI in the future with the dual-sync dizzy I have from the Accel stuff and a CDI box. It's even easily swappable to LSx control with just a harness change.

Would the DSE first gen remote wiper control arm box work on the second gen? Also move the clutch reservoir to the right of the brake master cylinder?

They have one for 2nd-gens too. I still have the stock one even though it hasn't been used in years & years (didnt fit my old hood). A guy on Nasty moved his wiper mechanism to behind the fender on the driver side so it's all hidden. I may do the same. Have to extend the linkage and get it adjusted, but that will help clean things up too. I put my line lock in that same area under it. Definitely moving clutch reservoir too.

Looks good! Damn - When you're done with this, you need to come down to Tennessee and help me with my 1991 Z28. I've been so wrapped up in other projects, I've really neglected it since I swapped in the T5.

They were 25 min from my newer shop and about the same from the old one.

The drive is a bit far now though.

They moved to Colorado.

Fabbed a better 6spd hump. The old hole from when I was like 19 was kinda cobbed...and this one will seal everything off better with the matching plate over a rubber boot. It builds in a more solid mount for the console too. It was a little flimsy before.

Cut a big hole in the firewall and then filled it in...and then started mocking up some wiring.

I need to find a replacement connector housing for the firewall side, or a good way to clean it up...it's pretty nasty. The stock large gauge wires no longer go through the firewall with my trunk-mount battery, it will basically just be the lighting harness and control wires for my fan & water pump relays, etc.

Routing the wires for the EFI cleanly is going to be a little bit of a challenge. They give you a huge grommet to just stuff everything through the firewall, but I think I can keep it a lot cleaner with a smaller grommet for some of the sensors and a 22-pin weatherpak bulkhead for the injectors & ignition. Then I will just need one for the wideband, but I can do that in the tunnel where it is invisible.

I also ordered my SpinTech 6000 Pro Street mufflers so I can make sure it all fits well before finalizing the floor. If I have to cut or BFH it I can before it has sound deadener on it.

Is that a chunk of Mazda truck on your firewall?

Looks like the old truck motor - assuming your stroker motor is still on the stand?

Nope, that is a piece of extra shelving. haha That's how I got a perfect 90* on 3 of the 4 sides of the shifter hump too...same shelf.

Drivetrain is still in mockup mode...and yes that's the truck 350. It all has to come out for finish work.
