I'll never abandon this project. It's just so hard to balance my projects. My bimmer is a track car now too. I'm building a cage for it along with a turbo kit and other drifting modifications.

Never make your DD a project... look what I go through with my Legacy... I just got that back on the road and I'm still pissed about this clutch. It's not acting like a full face organic disc should.. Way to chattery, I should have just ordered a Stage 3 Spec and been done with it and not messed around with Clutch Masters.

I drive a truck and my bike as a dd. local law enforcement has decided that I shouldn't have a rwd car on the streets anymore. I can't control the urges to slide.

So 200hp 4500lb truck for me it is. At least it hauls more tires.

I was gonna call bullshit and then I checked wikipedia.

1991-1993 155 hp (116 kW) @ 4000 RPM 230 lb·ft (310 N·m) @ 2400 RPM
1994 165 hp (123 kW) @ 4000 RPM 235 lb·ft (319 N·m) @ 2000 RPM
1995 160 hp (120 kW) @ 4000 RPM 235 lb·ft (319 N·m) @ 2000 RPM
1996–1998 200 hp (150 kW) @ 4400 RPM 255 lb·ft (346 N·m) @ 2800 RPM

Still, the 300 in my truck is still annoying. haha

Well updates are a little lacking for the last (few?) years.

However, good news is I just got a 2 car garage so I can finally give the beretta some attention again! Between building other cars for myself and friends I have been super busy. Bmw's trucks s2000's 240s rx7s miatas, it never stops.

Hopefully in the next month I trailer the beretta to its new location.

I have learned a lot since I started building this car, I have gained new skills, tools and resources.

New plans include:

Pull motor and trans back out.

Trash FWD suspension and steering

Swap e46 front subframe, arms, knuckles, brakes, rack, etc. Its a forward mounted rack.

Move motor back! Big time. I need to get the heads on the firewall. May include enlarging tunnel (again).

Possibly will need custom oil pan.

Maybe shocktowers will stay where they are maybe they will not.

Wilwood or comparable pedal setup without power brakes. I am already not feeling that linkage system I built with the supra parts. Plus this should allow me to have windshield wipers again.

I build my own roll cages now so I should cage this beretta as well to add stiffness and fit my drifting regulations. I will tie the rear shock towers into the cage to spread load.

Also not sure what to do about bolt patterns yet. It will be 5x120 up front and 5x114.3 in the rear. I have 30 5x120 wheels and only a few 5x114. Maybe I will try to get the rears re-drilled, or if fenders allow, adapters.

So I am a little rusty on berettas and 60v6's, its been a while. A few questions:

How much caster does a stock beretta have?
Where does the pickup tube in the lx9 land? Rear sump I am hoping?

Beretta is finally at its new home. Work on the rwd project starts today, after a 3 year lapse.

Berettafest looks like a good goal to get it driving by....

Moved into the shop Saturday Monday night already got the car ripped back apart and fitting new parts to see if any of this stuff will work.

I am toying with the idea of keeping the stock beretta control arms and using e46 knuckles and struts. Here is them bolted up. The e46 takes a different balljoint taper so I would need to swap a different balljoint into the beretta arm.

Image

Bolted up. Rotors are scrap. I chose these knuckles because I already have m3 brakes for them. I may possibly use e36 knuckles in the future as the coilover mounting is different and will give me more built in camber.

Image

Image

Some room to make camber and caster changes up here. Extending the shock tower towards the engine is a posibility as this setting here is close to 0 camber. Hence me possibly going e36 for knuckles. Another option could be 5 lug 240sx knuckles. That way I keep 5x114 to match the rear. There rear steer knuckles but maybe I can use the on the opposite side??

Looks like my rollcenter fears may not be an issue. At approx ride height the arms are pretty flat. I may be able to go lower with a longer balljoint stud.

Image

This is approx where the forward steer rack would land. I need top cut the subframe for clearence to minimize bump steer. However, I am worried that I can not get the rack back far enough to obtain the ackerman I want, due to the design of the stock control arms....

Image

I am hoping the front notch in the 3500 pan lands right on top of the rack, and allows the hood to close. Its going to be tight.

So thats where I left off last night. Main focus right now is steering and fitting this tall ass 660 in there, while still retaining the best suspension geometry possible.
