Pabst

Post by ifixalot »

I like the specialty beers but they cost about $12 a 12 pack.
I recently tried the cheaper ones such as Bud, Schlitz and then Pabst.
Pabst is really good beer and it's cheaper than the specialty beers
therefore, I really like Pabst and I will continue to buy it.

American beer?

Might as well drink water.

MOLSON is where it's at, and NOT the crap they ship to America that is double boiled to give it shelf life.

Pabst is also sold here in Canada but it is brewed under license by Labatts and is 5% and way better than the original stuff.

Favorite is Goose Island Honkers Ale - pisses me off they brew it in NY - but I can get it here down in Charlotte.
Second is Highland Brewing Company - Gaelic Ale.
Third is Yuengling Lager.
4th is Hofbrau Dunkel - kind of hard to get here, but had it fresh in Munich at the original Hofbrauhaus.
I'll throw back some Guinness, some Coors Light, but stay away from the Miller and Bud products.

Hofbrauhaus by the Newport Aquarium in Cleveland, Ohio. Their banana beer is beyond amazing. Best beer I've ever had. Can't imagine what it would taste like in Munich at the original!

Now store bought, my favorite beer is probably Budweiser Black Crown. The Leinenkugels brand is also really good. Their "Sunset Wheat" has a raspberry taste to it, which is different but a really good different.

I think you can only get like 3% abv in Utah if I remember correctly... Talk about water. Most stuff in my state is 5% I believe.

Yeah I like the Leinenkugel beers too. In the summer I like the lemon and orange shandy. In winter, like right now,
I like the creamy dark. There are so many good beers out there today! (and a few bad ones)
I even tried a hops free beer called Froach Heather Ale. It is pretty good but expensive, not worth the money.
Back when I was teenaged, I worked in a liquor store as a bottle boy. Back then customers brought back
your bottles to get the deposit and the bottles would be cleaned and refilled. Somebody had to put all
those bottles back into the empty cases for pickup and delivery back to the bottling plant. That was my job for 75 cents an hour. Our store had only domestic beers like, Drewey's, Miester Brau, Fox, Grain Belt and
Glute Stiet (sp?) Malt Liquor, in addition to the big names you still see today.
I have recently read things about hops in beer acting like female hormones in men diminishing sex drive
and guys developing man boobs etc. It's been said the the German purity law was about the
church wanting hops to be included in beer so as to keep men less horny and less eager to fight.
Hops also purifies the water, which back then wasn't so clean. IPA is supposed to have more hops in it
so it can stay fresh for that long trip over to India.
Beer is a very interesting subject. There is all kinds of information on the internet about it.

75 cents an hour - that must have been a long time ago, haha.

Whitereta - luck you have access to a Hofbrauhaus. None are close here - but I can get 6 packs of there brews at a local large beer store.

Yeah longer than I care to admit. That job was a cut in pay from my previous job at the slot car track.
Fixing the tracks and sweeping the floor for a buck an hour after school in 1968.
But I got to work more hours at the liquor store and I got free candy and soda while I worked.
If it weren't for those jobs, I'd have had no money at all.
Now a kid has to be 18 to get a job.

"Now a kid has to be 18 to get a job."

I have been working with computers, repairing, fixing, selling since 13, supported me though college, and still supplements my income today. Makes me feel old to have 18 years of experience in my career. A vast majority of kids really have no ambition anymore.

Ya but you only have to be 19 here to drink!!

Ask Barry about the time I was feeding him beer at B'Fest N.E., in front of his Dad, not realizing you have to be 21 in the U.S.

I don't think i've had PBR since college. These days it's all craft beers for me. Just scored 2 six packs of Three Floyds Zombie Dust.
