88 2.8 sputters and shuts off
Greetings all,
Glad I found the forum.
ill get right to it. I have an 88, 2.8 V6 automatic. 123,XXX.
recently tuned it up. took it for a test run, no problems. on my way to work, about 20 miles after the tune up, car began to sputter like it was missing. pulled over to check the wires, car then shuts off. wouldnt fire back up, turns over catches for a second, sputters, dies.
Let it sit for an hour, fires right back up then dies after about 2 mins max.
Let is sit over night, again fires up. didn't die after 2 mins but i didn't drive it either just in case.
Thoughts??

Re: 88 2.8 sputters and shuts off
Either ICM or coil issue(s). Grab a 5.5mm and check them over for cracking or heat damage.

I'd also check the resistance on the fuel injectors to make sure that one of them didn't develop an internal short. I experienced these symptoms many times on my 2.8 because of this.
