My bad luck

Post by ifixalot »

This spring installed a new radiator and condenser in the daughter's 96 Z.
While doing the radiator, I noticed a broken pipe on the condenser.
So I had to R&R the radiator when I got the new condenser.
I got the radiator from Primechoiceauto off Ebay. Little did I know, it only has a
six month warranty. Now in the eight month, it leaks. It was leaking all along
but I thought the leak was somewhere else, which it was.
But now that I've found the radiator leaks too,
they won't give me any help saying it's out of warranty.
As I said, I later had installed an Spectra AC condenser I got from Rock auto.
It turns out that thing is leaking too. But at least it has a two year warranty but I have to
pay return shipping. So I'll have to buy another, install it and return the bad one for a refund.
The radiator was leaking at the seams between the aluminum and the plastic. I was able
to get that stopped, by crimping the flaps of aluminum.
But the condenser is leaking from multiple tubes on one end. I have UV dye in the system.
I hate buying new stuff and having to do the work twice because it's defective.

Damn man that sucks. Just did the same thing this year. Four Seasons was the maker of the condenser and I hope it is ok. There is a leak before on the stock condenser, but now there is another leak somewhere.

The radiator that was put in seems to be doing well. I can look up the brand if you want(it did come from RA).

sad part is. Even if you pay through the nose for a new part for these L Bodies, it's still hokey at best.

That's some crap man. You have an Advance Auto near you? If you do give em' a call and see if they got one for you. I know many will say it but I've worked there for awhile now and consider it to be a quality parts retailer. That and many pro shops around us use us for parts and I've never heard anything negative from the mechanics compared to others. Give it a shot if you want!
