Heater/AC control panel

Post by ifixalot »

I need a heater/AC control panel for a 1988. I actually only need the light pipe.
That is the clear plastic part behind the panel that illuminates the panel from behind.
I need it shipped to Illinois. If you want to just send the light pipe to save on shipping that is fine.

Is that connected to the radio? If so I have the radio out of my 90GT.

Yes, the Heater/AC panel is one piece, inclusive of the radio opening.
So you have the whole assembly including the radio to sell?

Yes. The radio quit working so it has been in a closet for many years now. Give me some time to make sure what you need is still there. It should be unless it fell off at sometime. For sale? Just take it off my hands for shipping if you have Pay Pal.

Ok thanks, no big hurry, I appreciate you efforts.
For the light pipe to fall off, you'd have to take the switches out.
It is between the switches and the face plate.
I think they made aftermarket face plates to install "Din" radios.
Maybe the people installing them didn't bother to swap the light pipe?

The switches were out and it was a single Din radio. Don't remember if the switches lit up after the install. The memory was good back then, so I didn't need to look at them. It was just reach here to turn something on or off. Guess that was more of a memory/hand thing. Could change the plugs at that time with my eyes closed, even switching the hardware/tools to get it done(yes I did try it once).
Wow...off topic. I can take a photo and will.

I have a single din face plate as shown in this photo.

What I need goes into the backside area under the switches.

Yes, I don't "need" it but I don't like the look of a bright spot on that panel at night.
I guess the light pipe didn't fit or people just discarded them. If I can't find one,
I guess I'll try making one.

Dug it out and it looks just like yours. Must have been used on the install. Sorry to get hopes up.

Thanks anyway for checking moneypit.
198 GTU, I have some acrylic sheet in various thickness.
I don't think it needs to be prismatic.
I might take one out of my 96 and see if it fits and then copy that.
There is somebody an hour away selling a bunch of Beretta parts for $60.
He has a heater switch so if it fits, I may go buy his parts.
Never hurts to have extra of everything.

96 will not fit the 88.

If the plastic does not contain a diffused feature, the "hot" spot might still be evident.
