Indy Convertible Tour Video

Post by Cliff8928 »

I believe it might have been done by Cars and Concepts in MI.  Just like the GTU and Corsica XT.

I have a ton of pics of the real indy pace car somewhere too.. Just not scanned in the computer.

Does anyone know if the car is still there? I'd like to go see it. Where exactly is it? I know the event was in Columbus, but I seem to remember the name of the school from time I spent in Dayton.

Cliff, are you talking about the #1 & 3 pacecars you and Randy saw at Indianapolis Motor Speedway?

Mike - The VIN on this one is like the ones at Indy.  I guess they weren't going to give the convertible a special designation in the VIN like they did with the GT (W), GTZ & Z26 (Z), and instead just listed it as a V, which typically means Base model (except in 1988 when it is also used for the GT).  The VIN on this car is 1G1LV34T9LY178766.  Here's the translation:

1 - United States
G - General Motors
1 - Chevrolet
L - L-Platform
V - Beretta
3 - 2-Door Convertible
4 - Automatic Belts
T - 3.1L V6 FI
9 - Check Digit
L - 1990 Model Year
Y - Wilmington, Delaware Plant
178766 - Production Sequence Number

Yeah, amazing  I think the other two were also listed in Carfax, but I don't remember what for...maybe it was somehow related to the insurance they were under out of Michigan.

I've decided to put the video up for download, all I ask is that if you repost I be properly credited, "MAJ28" is fine.

It's in 6 parts, you can rejoin them using HJSplit (http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/) or if you like you can change the extension and watch it in 6 parts.

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6

(BTW - It appears some of the mirrors/servers on this site are much faster then others, one gave me 40K, the other gave me about 165k, so if you hit a slow one it might help to try again.)
