Hey, how have you been? Yes there is an improvement, but not a big one. It's about the only thing you can do and not get in trouble(as you know). Mantapart is the only place I know of that does it. Now, if you can take out the d-port on the newer 3100 manifolds they have a better shape for flow than the old 3.1's.

I have been doing good...thanks for asking.
Looking for some more ponies. My car runs good at my local 1/4 mile short track. Running second gear (auto) really keeps me in the rpm range for max torque, bout 3 grand coming out of the turns and around 5-55 at the end of the straight. But when I go to the 1/2 mile track I get killed on the straight aways.
I know MANTAPARTS sells them, I was wondering about the quality of port job, plus I have heard "stories" about their servie? Nothing first hand, just heard things.
"d-ports" is that exhaust manifolds?
and what year cars would I look for in a Junkyard?
Thanks.

Yea, I've heard things too. Yes, D-port exhaust manifolds on any year that has a 3100(I think 92 and up). Be sure to get the cross over pipe(it's bigger also). Are you sure nobody will be able to tell that they are not the OE for the 3.1?

I'm almost positive, that is, I was told that I should use them on my 90 3.1 and forget about Mantapart ported. I'm not sure on the EGR hook up(check it at the junkyard). That would be cool man, those 3.1 manifolds don't flow well as you can see just by looking at them.

Your old exhaust pipe will be too long when you put the new manifolds on, you will have to redo it.

forget the pre-2000 manifolds unless they are 3400 manifolds. If the rule only states you must run manifolds get the ones off a 3400. The rear will dump in the center and have 4 seperate passages running to it. Get a steering rack heat sheild off a cavy with a twin cam (I think) while your at it so it doesnt melt the bushings on the rack.
