The vent is certainly not hurting!!

Fresh air IS fresh air, however I'm uncertain if it helps.

I'm going to go back to the short (12") 3" tube and see what happens next time out.

It actually sits just back of the battery on the inner fender.

Have fun!!

believe it or not i did see a slight gain with the hood vents on the corsica.... pre hood vents i was running a high 16.9 to a 17 flat... after i installed the hood vents i went to a high 16.8 to a mid 16.9.. i kept all the data to show how it helped... i think it was 2 reasons.. one.. cooler air was being rushed onto the tubing and 2.. the hot air out of the engine bay was being pushed out as well.. keeping my engine cooler. pre hood vents my engine got hot as heck after each run.. after hood vents the engine stayed pretty cool and only got slightly warmer after each run... also made it easier and quicker to cool he engine off between rounds, because the engine was not getting as hot...

of course on good air days i was hitting a 16.6 and a 16.7.. but those days where when the da actually was only a couple hundred feet high then out actual elevation, our average is about 2 to 3 grand higher then elevation here

who knows... but ill try my experiment and get some data going...just for fun...

What do you guys think of the velocity stack? The only two problems I see with it is: 1. room to put it on and 2. the fact that you need to get another filter(K&N does make them). I would love to test this, but I have too many K&N's running around already and have no plans to get another. I have two for both the cars I have and one for the 90GT that I no longer have(yes 5, two are in use, one other was lost with the 90). I would think of sending one to someone for testing. That is the one I had on my WAI(the RX-4990, look it up and PM me if you want to try it). It is very large and almost didn't fit on my 95.

Thank you , sir!!

So i ran last night in the el'corsi.... warm air intake still.... too bad it rained out cause i was on a roll!!

.026 light BOTH TIMES!!!!
first I ran a 16.957
second was a 16.944

I would of dialed a 16.92 and ran that... but it poured rain and they called it AGAIN!! we have had 4 races and 2 already had to be called to rain.. raced the other two...

i am far behind in points.. #7 right now... but 3 rounds our from second.... i got some work to do... :x

I think I may have thrown fuel on this issue.

New Bests for the 3500!

Took OFF the CAI and installed the 12" x 3" WAI with filter.

ALL NEW BESTS!

1.97 60' (Quickest N/A?)

14.06 ET

99.58 MPH (Fastest N/A??)

Kerri "beretta-bitch" has all the info and the slips.

No condemnation of anything, but it appears that whole CAI thing may need some 'splaining!!

At least on the higher revving larger 3400/3500 combinations. All those bends are costing air flow folks!!

I have the time slips to argue it.

K & N Cone thing I have had forever. About 6" long.

I have never even cleaned it, although I seldom drive the car except to the track and back, so I doubt it's very dirty.

However one thing I DID notice is that my wideband O2 readings are a little leaner with the "short" tube, indicating it is actually getting MORE air than with the CAI.

How much more lean is it reading? Is the filter six inches over all?

I'm going to have to speak with Rodney because quite frankly this is all Vulcan to me!

It "seems" to be correcting itself.

When I first removed the CAI and went to the short tube it was 16.5 to 17 to LEAN!

On the way home (about 90 minutes at 3500 RPM) it seemed to be better.

14.90 to 15.80.

Have to figure in that the wide band is NOT hooked up to the ECU, (Rodney is just too busy right now) so I am getting the readings from what the stock O2 is sending to the computer, and the wide band is reading.

DID THAT MAKE ANY SENSE?

And all of a sudden I am having some idle issues (low) and it actually stalled a couple of times.

YIKES!!!

I wouldn't worry so much about part throttle fueling... if your running good a/f when at WOT that's really all that matters the most. Yes the car would see more air that way possibly and right off will be "leaner" but it will correct it's self, that's what the BLM's or in my instance, the fuel trims are for. Same way a factory car figures out how to run with a 3400 over a 3100.

My car feels much better since I found that kink in my fuel line, even though my wideband never showed a lean condition so its kinda odd... but oh well, I'm not gonna complain about a better car! :)

I would try a straight shot intake pipe if I had a setup... I actually should make one.

Jon I'm willing to bet that a short tube would net you better MPH numbers.

Especially N/A.

took the silver z again to see if i could figure her out and had no luck... I thought I figured out how to dial her and then she freaked out on me and went to fast..lol

my lights were normal.. .015, .018, .016, another .016 my first time trial she ran a 17.448 @ 81mph, second was a 17.53 @ 81 mph. btween the first run and the second run the air had gone up about 800 feet... so it seemed to go up with the air.. so i dialed a 17.59 for my first round of elim... and it ran a 17.598!!!!!!!! heck ya! won round one!!! next round the air had only gone up 100 ft so i dialed a 17.60.. figured it would be a safe bet and if need be I would be able to let off... but no.. it had to run a 17.47!!! broke out by 13 hundredths....

I dont get this car.. def can not dial it in like he corsica... not sure why not either... the z26 just pops of random numbers at random times and i think that 17.598 run was just a lucky guess??

baaahh humbug.... looks like it is time to check the bearings and refresh the corsica.. cause it looks like i will be racer her for a few more seasons...
