3500/3t40 Cobalt/G5??
This came up in conversation the other day with a couple of friends when I was moaning about the rockers on my Beretta going to need some attention again.
And I found a Cobalt with fairly minor front end collision damage for $2500 that still drives and has leather interior (although I think a G5/Pursuit would be neater!)
Problem of course is you can already buy a Cobalt that will run 13's, so the WOW factor of the Beretta goes out the window, but I think it would be interesting.
OBD-1 of course.
Thoughts?

Our emission laws would classify it as a "Hot Rod" and it would therefore be exempt except for a visual smoke and gas cap test.
In fact my '92 is classified as such, but that was BS baffles Brains for the most part.
Now about this ABS stuff? I think retro to OBD-1 would likely get around most of those little annoyances.

Well, with the newer cars, most things electrical are in some way controlled via the GMLan network. Right down to the gauges and radio.

I like the fact that it would be one of a kind, but people are gonna give you alot of crap for it. You can buy a ss/tc brand new and run mid 13's so easily. Its ALOT of work to get to the 13's in a v6 as you and I know...

Well while the motor is out it's getting a cam and Lord knows what else Rodney can talk me into, but yes, it wouldn't be all that much quicker than a stock one, so the fun is somewhat mitigated.
Maybe I'll keep looking for a SunFire.

Keep the Beretta. Or if you need to, find a donor shell that is in better shape. But I may be biased...

Your just racing it. Don't worry about the rockers. I know all about being anal but some things are just too far past practical.
