Well I FINALLY broke it!

Post by Asylum »

Ok here is the story, and even I couldn't make this up.

Rodney called me late yesterday and wanted to go to Cayuga (TMP) and while I normally would refuse a non-competitive day like the Swine Flu, he convinced me to go.

Test and tune days are normally a hate area for me as they really don't care, and don't prep the track very much if at all!

So I get there early (Evidently Rodney has a better AND LATER Halloween Social life-style than me??) and change to the drag radials and open the dump.

Roll into the Burn-out box, nail the loud peddle as I ALWAYS DO, it spins like crazy, shift light comes on, I back right off and BANG!!

Ya BANG on my never-breaks car!!

See ya later Driver's side axle and maybe the diff.

First time in over 1000 runs this car just plain broke!!

Thanx to CAA (AAA) it's up at Billy's (Mr. Transmission, Milton, ON)

Oh and Rodney ran 12.52 and 118 MPH!

Like I care!! :P ROFL

12.52@ 118 MPH

And it was still spinning the tires!

Just got back from the autopsy.

Broke the axle, and tore up the LSD a little. YIKES!

It'll be fixed as quickly as I can get another LSD shipped here.

Stupid car!

I may not even be related, but the diff is pretty banged up.

At least one of the springs is broken. :x

Oh and the chain was alittle sloppy. Way to much to put back in.

Think about that one for a minute Jon.. once the axle breaks, all the power is being forced to the side that can now turn freely, which is just wearing the piss out of the clutches in the diff..

Oh I agree, but I got labeled as the only one to destroy a set of clutches on a EP LSD by it sliping/spinning... so thats why I questioned it. I also had a set of stamped plates crack on me.

I witnessed Rodney run 12.52 and 118 mph.

No nonsense here guys!

And he was still spinning the slicks.. Bad track, no prep and my car is broken because of it.

If there is any good news here it is that Billy has an EP to tear apart.

He still thinks he may be able build these things but has been waiting to take one apart.

He has installed about a dozen of them for the J-Body and W-Body guys up here in Canada, and NONE have failed.

But of course they all come assembled and go straight into the car.

I have the spare from the failed 3.94 experiment, so it's going in, at least for now with a complete rebuild and a new chain. Keeping the FD converter in there for now.

Stupid car!!
