I'm not really interested in rewarding mediocrity, failure or matters that can be contrived or subject to examination.

It's racing! The winner receives the recognition.

However under the current parameters the most popular OEM platform (2.8/3.1/3100) is almost certainly eliminated from contention, and therefore perhaps warrants some consideration.

That said, the conditions and coticiles that almost immediately present are enough to make your damn head explode.

So how about this.

We add "Quickest STOCK Gen 2" and "Quickest STOCK Gen 3" No non-OEM engine swaps allowed.

Any transaxle, Intakes OK, Full exhaust, DOT tires, full interior blah, blah, blah.

In the event of any controversy I get to decide if the entry qualifies or is "outside" the common sense limitations of the class.

THOUGHTS??

Remember this is not a "race" inspired gathering... The racing is simply an event we choose to hold to gain the interest of some of the enthusiasts... And put it this way, if there are more FUN awards or the ability to get an award even if your not the best but just out there trying for your first time then maybe more people will want to participate. I hear many say they don't bother because they don't stand a chance at winning anything so whats the point of going.

This is meant to be fun Eric, and not so serious. If you don't wish to provide trophies for those classes and others think that it's a good idea and want to see the diversity over just the standard groups, then I will provide them.

Also as far as tech goes on the non swapped cars, I think there would have to be a committee discussion about any conflicts, and not up to simply one person.

I also do not see why you keep leaving out quickest Stock quad... Yes you have a quickest n/a quad category but that could be taken by someone with a W41 swapped quad... thats not OEM equipment. If your going to make Gen2 and Gen3 categories you need a stock HO (non W41) quad category.

Ya I suppose we could add a Stock N/A Quad class. But I'll bet right now the same car wins both! If so I'll just not award it and re-plaque it for another event.

As far as best reaction time, maybe. Worst reaction time is a joke! How about worst reaction time on a WINNING Run? Still silly. I'll wait 2 seconds the first time I run a 3.1 auto then.

And if we need a ruddy committee to decide if a car is stock then it's NOT! That decision will in no way affect me, so there is no inherent conflict I can see.

I would however like to make the Best Engineered Entry a voted award.

But nothing is carved in stone yet.

And THAT is what prompted me to speak up about it in the first place. Having fun. And Jon is right. I'm quite sure there are members that wouldn't bother with it if they knew they had 0 chance to gain anything from it, other than to be certain they are slower than you guys.. LOL I personally don't care, I just want to run once or twice, see how I do.

I know that Eric also brings up a good point, where to stop, draw the line, etc. That is why what I proposed sounded like a simple way to define it, but I can see that it isn't that simple. Ah well.

I think we have damn near every possible combination addressed, don't we? The fact is there can still only be one winner in each category.

Unless you want to get into Modified 2nd Gen, 3rd Gen, automatics, 5-speeds, My God where would you stop?

You guys want a Rookie of the Year award? Based on what criteria?

I will order up a Best Reaction Time trophy. That could be a fun one too!

But I'll wait for some more opinions over the next few days and make it one order, not several.

:Bravo:

Post a list of what you already have, and then I'll add in my .02 and see what everyone else has to say as well.

As of now I am sponsoring the following Trophies. (And they are REALLY COOL!)

Quickest Overall Entry.

Quickest N/A V6.

Quickest N/A Quad.

Quickest Stock '87-'93 2.8/3.1.

Quickest Stock '94-'96 Gen 3 3100.

Let me know what else you are thinking.

FWIW.... These are expensive trophies. They run about $40-$50 each!

I'm OK with that, however let's not "invent" classes, OK?
