Well to do that I think we need to look back at what classes we had before and duplicate those. There is no need to start changing the way the drag racing is awarded, and IIRC there were two stock classes for 4 and 6 cylinder, a two modified classes for 4 and 6 cylinder (which excluded FI) and then there was one forced induction class which included any size engine with a power adder.

5 Trophies end of story. Simple... And then Eric can have his Best Engineered, and the best reaction time one if he still wants to include that.

Are there any objections to that?

That effectively eliminates all the gen 2 cars immediately.

But this really all about some FI guys afraid they are going to be shown up by a N/A car!

Which in and of itself is absolutely ridiculous.

But it's not the 30th yet.

Is that back to the MPFI vs 3100? Or what exactly?

If the V6's are all lumped into one Stock Class the 3100 Gen 3 ('94-'96 cars) will win!

Unless there is one spectacular 2.8/3.1 5-speed out there somewhere.

Well, what would make that work better? Add a plaque/tropy for best 2gen stock v6? I would assume the stock quads 2.3s were fairly equal, regardless of years. I don't see anyone jumping up and down to include the lo quads either. (2.0 or 2.2)

So...

Stock 2nd Gen V6, Stock 3rd Gen V6, Stock Quad 2.3, Modified v6, Modified Quad, FI setups, then quickest overall? That's what, 6 plus quickest? How does that work? Too much?

Edited to update my errors, but obviously I can see where the "when do we stop" point. *sigh

You really think a 3100 & 4T60-E is faster than a 3.1 with the 3.18?

Absolutely. It takes a pretty stout 3.1 to get anywhere near a 15 second timeslip. They are generally 16.50 or so, however I know of a couple 3100's that can run 15.90's.

I managed a 15.95 with a 3.1 auto, but that was with 1.6 rockers and a pretty aggressive tune on a rather cool evening.

Sorry I missed the other class that you had added of the Gen 2 3.1's I agree that should be there since it is a good amount different from a 3100.

I was reciting what I remembered from old meets.

Then we are back to the original list I posted and at one point was quite agreeable!

It covers about any possible combination.

And I really don't give a damn if for some reason a N/A car wins the Quickest Overall Entry. It WON'T or there should be an inquiry, but this has been a whole whack of nonsense over nothing!

So The Quickest Overall Entry is essentially the Power Adder/FI Class!

The SIX Classes stand along with Best Engineered, which I am going to suggest be voted on, and Best Reaction Time just because it was suggested. At least for now anyway until I hear a better resolution.

What was the car to beat 5 years ago may not be now, and while we all respect all our cars and the Heritage that is becoming BerettaFest, as these cars get older, some get quicker and technology pushes on.

Who has a 15-sec 3100 that is stock? I've never heard of that/ Scanner man hit 15s I know, but that was with rockers and I believe LIM & UIM from a large-port 3100.

I want to allow any trans, in order to not eliminate any combination, so the 5-speed swap guys can run as Stock if everything else looks original.

And they may well dip into the 15's.

A 2.8/3.1 won't or we should be looking at it more closely.

The Best engineered keeps bringing a flag up on my thought process. If a Beretta came about and had machined this fabbed that and many more altered areas then pulls off a best of a 14 second time slip while a homemade backyard comes along and constantly shows off with the best time slip of the entire Beretta crowd (lets say 12.89 to add some fuel to the fire) ...... How would that be judged? Reason I point that out is, I'd see the true skills of engineering being that faster Beretta.

The Best Engineered Entry is a new Award that has only been presented twice.

However it is evolving as the vehicles do, and that is why I am going to request it be added to the voting as opposed to it being simply my call.

There really is no criteria insofar as what is or isn't considered, and that too may have to change as time goes on.

For this year I'm comfortable allowing the attendees to vote on it, and see what happens.

I would put in a things to consider for those voting on it. For example: Note the cars overall performance (how reliable and fast it is) and the fabrication work done (would you include interior and or exterior mods to?) .

Otherwise people will vote based on friends and relation to car rather not the real deal.

Yes we are at the same list as before and that's the issue. Pats question was regarding the ONLY class that the FI guys can be in and it's open to all which seems unfair. I think what your missing is the fact that the quickest entry should be renamed to the quickest power adder. That's ALL that Pat was suggesting and I agree.
