Re: 1996 Mr.Pink
Oh snap - yeah I know how brittle aluminum is - I snapped the threads right out of the head when tightening down a 3400 head one time.... LOL.
Engine bay is looking good - will you be replacing the factory stickers?

Re: 1996 Mr.Pink
I learned the whole "torque spec" concept when I bought my Camaro. I actually broke an ear off the carb pad on my intake manifold...whoops. That's when I learned you don't just crank everything down as tight as you can get it. hahahaha

LOL
Hence that nifty invention called a torque wrench, and the idea of a tightening pattern.

Re: 1996 Mr.Pink
Updated list of items to fix...
-AC compressor is leaking
-PS lines are leaking
-Inner and outer Tierods
-Seal firewall
-Paint with bed coating
-Paint strut towers Raspberry... And no i dont think I'll be replacing the stock sticker, it is just the AC one anyways.
-Replace Blower Moter and box, already painted box.
-Replace Heater core
-Drill tap/helicoil head for exhaust studs... Torque or not the threads are just tired, I've never pulled any threads out of the head they are just not as deep as they once used to be... Plus anything requiring decent torque should be helicoiled on an aluminum part as well.
-Quick Glance through trans, Possibly replace drive chain.
-Replace Valve cover Gaskets and gromets
-Get new wires
-Re-locate NOS solenoids
-Re-Loom parts of wiring harness
-Check/replace ball joints
So yeah... I got a decent list to do.
But I also just did this on Tuesday. (keeping the Race car out of my topic)

Re: 1996 Mr.Pink
I'll be sealing up the cowl and doing the firewall this weekend hopefully... And maybe installing the heater box, but I'm NOT happy with how the paint came out, so I may strip it again and re-do it.
Then I may attack the heater core...
I also realized that I have a bunch of the parts I need on the red car... For example the AC compressor is good on that to my knowledge, as well as the Power steering lines... so I may luck out on a few of those items. Sat may be a good day to pull them to so we'll see.
