Spline lug nuts

Post by woody90gtz »

I've looked around and I'm having a hard time finding either open or long closed shank splined lug nuts...black preferably. My current lugs won't work with my new wheels, and I'm running 3" Moser 1/2-20 studs in the back and the 12x1.5 studs that come in 1LE rotors on the front. So I need different lugs for front & back, but I want to keep the same key. I'm also curious is someone makes a key that fits a regular 1/2" drive ratchet, rather than just the hex that needs to go in a standard socket.

This is basically what I'm looking for (except without the 4 locks and the correct threads)

In this pic you can see how tight the wheels are. I had to borrow a 3/8 drive thin-wall deep-well socket to even get the lugs on, and I still scratched the inside of the lug hole on the wheel. Acorns would probably look better, but I'd have to cut down the wheel studs...which isn't a bad option. The long Moser studs looked badass with the thin face steel wheels, but not so much now.

Cut the rear studs, then get the Gorilla nuts like I have.

How does the black anodizing hold up?

i have lugs that rather then a socket go around the outside, you actually insert a special key into the socket, much easier to use and prevents any scratching on the wheels.

The internal hex-head ones? I had a set of those that came with my 17s and they blow. Maybe it was just a quality issue with the free ones with my wheel & tire package, but I was not impressed and chucked 'em.
