custome itb?

Post by ShaneLT(ShaneZ26) »

I was looking around and found these.

http://www.zccjdm.com/catalog.php/azcar ... DY_#IMAGES

Or

http://www.zccjdm.com/catalog.php/azcar ... TTLE_BODY_

Could either of these be used to make an itb setup on a 3X00?

Yeah they will all work. You can also look into other cars that come with ITB's from the factory. I think the 4age ae86 corollas may have. The r34 skyline gtr also has them with the rb26.

Street bikes also use them.

The hood is a bit low for that kind of thing. Unless you plan to put a double wide cowl hood on. All and all not a bad idea, but there is no plenum(less that double wide cowl hood). The linkage would be hard to make.
There is a big problem with the stock upper intake. As the number 3 valve is closing number 4 is stealing flow from it and so on all the way to six. There is an offset on 1 and 2 so it's not that bad. A custom upper would help some, but the high cost and the small gain of say 10 to 15hp is crazy(but is efficient in all of the power band). Still I dream of this upper with equal length runners and the right placement of the runners with a good plenum. We have the throttle cable length to push the plenum out some, but again this is just a dream.
I have a few books on this kind of thing. Not to say I know alot! Just trying to make something that someone else came up with better. GM is not looking for the best, just what works at a low cost.

They sure could, you would need an adapter of some sort. That would make them stick up even more. The upper is about 2 1/2 inches tall plus the vac tube that would be around three inches.
The ITB's should be taller than that. Then you must also think about the EGR and the where to get vacuum for the brake booster and all other vacuum needs.
Look man I'm not trying to shoot down your project. There are just alot of things to do to get this to work.
You could use breathers for the PCV system, but by far that's not as good as the stock system.

Unless you were going to cut six holes in the UIM to mount 6 ITB's to, you'd HAVE to use the LIM and block off the mount hole for the UIM. Again, as stated, you'd also have to find a new way to feed vaccum.

There's a guy who makes ITB setups for quads. The place is called quad4rods.com or something. He's got quite a bit of neat stuff and could prolly give helpful advice if you were serious about heading down that route.

I can't remember the firing order but would spliting the intake into a front and rear bank solve this?
