STYLUSS DIY........

Post by Amateur »

Someone made an article on Styluss's Beretta (paintjob more accurately) and I somehow stumbled upon it as a link from my favorite car site jalopnik.com....well this is awkward.

yeah they linked to it on mazdatruckin.com too. those guys state it makes more sense to just do a pile of prep work then bring it into macco.

Styluss is the one that posted it to instructables.com, jalopnik is part of gawker media, as is life hacker.

Yup! I wrote the Instructable and someone found it and got it on Lifehacker!

Even 4 years later this write up is getting a lot of attention! It has been featured on Instructable's front page at 4 or 5 times, they gave me the distinction of being a featured author once and it all ended up with me receiving 5 years worth of Pro membership with Instructables! I enjoy that it is still a popular article among MANY websites.

There is a TON of update work I need to do to the write up as well as make a new website to host it on myself.

How's it been holding up long term? Does the sun beat the crap out of it, or is it actually still holding the gloss you had initially? I might just do this to my Jeep too, then I don't feel so bad when I scratch it off roading around the woods :)

It is holding up very well. Just ask anyone that was at last year's BFest. It still has a bit of shine/gloss, but it has faded some from what it was originally. Not enough to be of a concern at all.

Bfest this year was the first time seeing Ryans car in person. And I can say that the paint is not a professional spray job, but it still looks GREAT compared to something that came out of a rattle can.

Its a good looking car, and the way Styluss was driving his car, it made perfect sense! If I didnt hate sanding, I might try it on something.

Best part, the related stories to the 75 dollar paint job!
