ADDCO REAR SWAY BAR

Post by Amateur »

So i have the addco finally, and i know the suspension setup is different on my '95 in back. I took a good look and had some ideas to rig it in there nicely. I know there are a few of you with it already on and i was wondering if you can lend me a hand with the best way that you did it. Photos of it mounted would be a step in the right direction (was looking at Mr. Pink with the huge shims, but the pics can only show me so much!) Thanks in advance

First off this should be under suspension, and what’s there not to understand about my shims? That’s how you need to install the bar to ensure it clears the lowered spring pocket on the 95+ rear sub frame.

If you need thickness measurements I can get them.

IIRC, the shims were 3/8" thick.

So I guess that you guys made these shims? I ask because with Eibachs on the way I'm going to need one of these sways. What should I use for the front?

A stock FE3 front sway bar with some quality bushings and end links and a stock front sub-frame tie bar is plenty fine. No reason to spend the extra money for an Addco on the front.

Well sounds like I'd better go and look and find out what my car has. My guess is that it's not FE3. I have a 95 so I can't use a tie bar.

Stock FE3 is the same size as the Addco front. I have a Stock Z26 bar up front and the Addco on the rear with the Z26 internal.

And yes I had the shims made here at work.

Well it looks like I have FE2. That was the only FE code on the tag in the trunk.

So 3X00 are you willing to make some more? I think Koots may need some too.

I didn't make them I had them made by someone here at work. I could get the dimensions of them and see what he could do, but I can't promise anything.

Thanks, I don't know anyone here in my area that can do that kind of thing.

Thanks a billion; You just made this 100x simpler. How could I have been so blind, totally need to buy new outer brackets to match the inner ones versus those supplied with the kit.
IIRC, the shims were 3/8" thick.
is this the correct thickness with 100% certainty?

And I know you're not promising anything, but it seems there's interest in these shimmy's. I for one wouldn't mind a set; it would make things so much easier for me. Of course if you can make it happen, I'd pay for the materials, work, +your time/effort cost.

I put the same bar on my 95 without shims. You get a little bit more ground clearance that way too. I just called Addco and they sent me another pair of the inner style brackets & plates for free...

Here's an old photo:

Looks simple enough, Just have to use some flat stock and a drill press.

I'll just have to precut the length of 3/8" flat stock and wait until I get money to make such modifications :P

Those would be shims woody, just thinner than mine.

Ok, that was poor wording on my part. What I'm getting at is...Addco will supply you with everything you need and you don't have to fabricate anything. Just give them a call.
