I finally had a chance to dyno the 3100 intake this weekend and here are the results:

http://www.tranzgenic.com/intakes/3100/ ... kedyno.jpg
http://www.tranzgenic.com/intakes/3100/ ... edyno2.jpg

About 4.5 WHP and 5 Ft LBS gain at peak, but with improvements across the board.  You'll notice the peak TQ numbers a little wacky because of the shift spike at the beginning of the dyno (we tried to remove it but the dyno software wouldn't display any numbers if we did).  This was tested on a STOCK 3100 with NO other mods.

Wow thats awesome. I never realized the 3100 made so little power at the wheels. Arent the manufacturers claimed figures for the 3100 series 155hp and 185tq?

Well, the tranny doesn't help at all.  This paticular 3100 has had a hard life - it has about 140k on it and was pretty beat up by the previous owner (when it was purchased it had no tranny fluid in it), so I'm not surprized that it put out so low.

The 4T60E has about %22 drivetrain loss give or take, so 115WHP is about 147HP at the crank, so it's not THAT far off the mark. ÂÂÂ

Most of the stock Z's I've seen lay down about 120WHP.

Hmmm...that's kinda funny Aaron now that you mentioned about the Tranny having no fluid..LOL.. when I bought my Beretta, i would have never expected the Dealer to lie about the fluids being new and changed.  HA! yeah well... sux when you bring it in to be serviced and the transmission fluid is almost burned... and the oil was about 1,000 miles overdue....as a wild guess.

now i own it!    and i've already fixed enough stuff in it as it is..... please don't tell me this car wasn't worth buying for?!?!?!
I thought it was a bat-out-of hell.... must i be wrong?!

Also... does anyone know what type of 5-speed manual transmission would fit perfectly to my 3100 Auto?  I'm guessing one from another Beretta that is a 3.1 Litre v6?
I'm thinking about doing that as a project for the summer of either next year or next fall `2005.  Hopfully if I have enough money to do that.

If I ever did a 3400 series swap with my 3100 series would the CAI for the 3100 series fit on the 3400 series and fit well in the engine bay? And does the 3100 series have an MAF?

Yes, the 3100 and 3400 have identical TB placement, so the intake will fit on either engine in your car.

The 94-95.5 3100's did not have MAF, the 95.5-96's did have it.

Uhh, yeah, ALL 3400's have MAF sensors, but that makes no difference to you.  If your car doesn't have MAF now, then it won't have MAF when you swap in a 3400 either - so if you want an intake, get one for what you have now.

Yea I'm getting the non MAF one. But since 3400 series are MAF doesnt that mean I will NEED to buy an MAF one or at least moddify it as an MAF?

No...........the ECU of OBDI cars is NOT setup to run a MAF, and if you do the 3400 swap, it will NOT need one to run the new engine.

Just buy whatever intake fits your car now, and it WILL fit the 3400 too (TB placement is the same).

Didn't I just say that? ÂÂÂ

Here's a pic of the MAF style intake FYI:

Btw Stencil?  I trust you that you said not one single thing gets left hanging... where does the air box sensor connect?
I didn't see that in the picture
If it's not shown in the picture.. than there's nothing to worry about ... just me being paranoid

It is on the bottom of the piping, so it's not visible from the top.

If it makes you feel better, IF you ever order an intake from me, I'll put yours right on the top of the intake piping so it sticks strait up...hood clearance might be an issue, but atleast you can put your fears to rest each time you see the dent in your hood that the sensor is actually IN the intake an that I wasn't lying when I said it would be

Let us know when you're ready to take orders for the Quad version.  I need one for a 91 and a 92.

The 92 version should be ready in about a month -- I just need to get my Z out of storage and design one.

The 91 version will require a test car - so it prolly won't happen until Bfest
