Got the slicks I bought from Jeff mounted up on my SCX wheels.  They sure do look pretty and can't wait to see what I'll run in the Quadzed this weekend.
Pics.

I hope you don't break an axle

Nice, those should be nice and light compared to most.

Haha, don't break an axle.  That's like hoping my original (1999) intake gasket doesn't go on my 3400. LOL  It's inevitable.

they weigh 24lbs. a piece so hopefully the axles will like them

The weight doesn't determine if the axle likes it... its how much power and grip you have... lol  Apparently Geoff's car had too much power for his axles... which is why I'm glad I have an auto, its there to absorb the axle breaking tendencies.

Yeah, then you just grind the slushbox to a pulp like I did   Woohoo for no 3rd or 4th gear

well I know my axles didn't like my stock Z26 wheels with street tires for two weekends in a row

I think the less weight the axles have to turn the better no matter if your making 100HP to 200HP.  If you put enough strain on the axle with combined weight and traction it'll break.

The new axles I installed the week after breaking my stockers broke with the same setup i had on there the week prior and I'm not making that much power

I've toasted like 3 or 4 axles.  Usually the inner joint oddly enough.

Nope, not if its built right... and its really the torque converter that takes the blow.

Yeah, built autos are far from the stock slushbox that comes with our cars.

I also feel that the fact that you can preload the drivetrain easier on an automatic allows them to keep the axles alive. You guys launch off the brake right?

Its the shock of letting the clutch fly that is breaking the axles( most of the time )

I always got the best results just launching from an idle with mine.  Too much wheelspin when I tried launching higher; I never used slicks though so that's a whole different ballgame.

Haha, like when one of mine died on the 1->2 shift.

yeah I launch off of the break because most of my wheel spin comes from a idle start... kinda odd...  Then again I could just have wheel spin all around now with this new motor and 3k stall converter.
