I once pondered the thought of buying a sailboat when I retire and living at sea. Hopping from the Florida Keys to the Caribbean Islands.
The kind of sailboat I would need to accomplish this is way above what I would want to pay.
When I visited St.Thomas in 92', a few of my buddies and I stumbled across this one guy and his wife who picked up a sweet deal on a very nice sailboat.
They only had to pay like 20% of the value and effect repairs. It was considered a total loss by the insurance company and was put up for auction. A result of hurricane Hugo.

How is clean up coming along down in FL, Jim?

Really good actually. Still a lot of debris laying around streetside. Even though we have a ton of help from out of state, they just can't pick it up faster than it's being produced.
People are tearing down their damaged fences, reroofing their roofs, trimming the nubs from broken branches and cutting down trees that broke halfway up the trunk. Plus all of the other misc. debris that litters the area. You have to consider that over 100 tornadoes were reported in this county.
I was at the laundromat the other night and the Red Cross truck pulled up and delivered meals to the lady who was operating the place. She must have had her house wiped out. She had children with her.
I am fortunate, it is these others who had their homes leveled that I sympathize for. I don't go a day driving out to lunch or home from work where I see semi's delievering temporary mobile housing to the airfield I work at. Appropriately named; Ivan Park.
