Dang I thought it would be hirgher than the base.  Also I thought the tire size and speed rating factor would also make gm to modify the comp to allow for a faster top speed.  wellz i got a base and I got a comp out of a z26 and i'll find out if there are any differences in preformance.  Thanxz for helping

Yes it does, unless someone bought an aftermarket e-prom, it should shut down at about 119 top speed.

My cuts at an indicated 108 mph, I'd imagine most other OBD-II 3100s are near there. If I remember right OBD-I 3100 has a governor around 113-115, they are the luck ones and can get there ECU tweaked and be rid of the governor.

205/55 R16s are actually .6 in shorter than 195/70 R14 that the bases come with. This means that if the speedo was calibrated for the 195/70 R14s (815 revs/mile), with 205/55 R16s (838 revs/mile) the speedo would read 2.7% faster than you are actually moving. (When your at an idicated 60, your actually at 58.4 mph.)

Now, does anyone have an idea which size the computer is designed for? I'd imagine GM would keep them the same as there isn't a very large difference and it is the same motor and drivetrain.

Yah, mine shuts down at 107/108.  94 OBD1 3100.

I must have an aftermarket e-prom. the guy who had the car before I bought it, rebuilt the enigine and put new wiring and copmuter in, he didn't tell me it wasn't a stock comp.

Hmmm, it seems most 3100s have a governor of 108 mph (thats what the plam pilot read)....there are a few exceptions though.

Anyone ever tried going to their local GM dealer/service center and asked if theycould reflash there computers to eliminate the limiter through the use of there Tech I or II tools?

Not an option, as in, can't be done. It has to be done at some place like super chips.
