Road Course interest

Post by Asylum »

This has been on B'Stuff for about a week, but I'll put it up here, even though I'm not on here very often.

There has been a proposal made to allow use of the 1.8 KM Road Course at Toronto Motorsports Park during B'Fest '08.
(This would be in addition to the drag strip)

http://www.torontomotorsportspark.com

However it may be entirely dependant on the level of interest.

All the info is available on B'Stuff, and will be updated as things progress.

If you have any questions, the answers are probably available there, or you can contact me.

I'm all in  but I do have one concern.
Prolly 99% of the people from these boards have never run at a track day event. I'm hoping they will at minimum have a drivers meeting to tell everyone what to do and not do out on the track.  I don't want my car being  involved in any incident on the track because someone elses inexperience.  The last thing I want is for myself or another Bfest attendee to be yanking a crumpled car home on a trailer....

That is an EXCELLANT response and concern.

The problem is I have no idea whatsoever on how to respond to it.

The track has stewards and there is a simple "DON'T DO THIS " Drivers Meeting before you get onto the track, however I have never been on the Road Course.

I race there 25-30 times a year on the drag strip, but I'm sure they have LOTS of rules!

Hell, guys race some pretty exotic stuff there all the time, and it's apparently not a big issue.

I'll get more info, but rest assured, it's not a DEMO RACE!

I am also in (as long as I have a car I feel like driving there).  I should have my garnet GTZ there, but probably not my autox car (too bad too).  I may take it on the track if I have nothing else to drive, but if there is someone who is willing to donate a lesser milage car (I'm at 217k original) I would gladly take that.     Either way it will never get off the ground if we do not have enough people to cover the cost of using the facility!

Just an update.

The contract is in place and the 1.8km "Club Circuit" is ours on Friday June 20th, 2008 from 6 - 8 PM EDT.

I'm also working on an agreement to allow us Club Priviledges on the Drag Strip that evening as part of their Test and Tune event from 7 - 11 PM EDT.

In addition Performance Cellar (a local speed shop) will be hosting a BBQ for registered entrants and their quests.

More to come.

OK Here's an update.

The contract has been signed, the deposit sent and only after some very shrewed negotiations by your loyal scribe, we have the entire 3 KM platform. Not just the 1.8 KM Club Circuit.

http://torontomotorsportspark.com

I have also been able to up the car count to 25, although they will only allow 12 cars on the track at any one time..

There were a couple of monetary hiccups, but Molson came through, so the price remains $35.00 per car.

This is a friggen DEAL FOLKS!

More info will be available when Registration starts in a couple of weeks, however if you have any questions just ask.

Some updated information on Road Course plans.

There will be a Photo Op session fron 5:45 p.m to 6 P.M. Friday June 20 on the Road Course for ALL Registered B'Fest Attendees.

WE will line up in formation, headed up by "someone's" INDY for a parade lap (25 mph) with 3 or four stops, around the entire 3 KM circuit with tons of opportunity for friends and family to shoot lots of pics and video.

It just keeps gettin' better folks.

Get Registered!

How do we secure a spot for this, since there isn't a provision on the registration page to be a participant?
