Suggestion
Suggestion
I was wondering if it would be possible to have a chat room, just so we can talk in real time other than in threads. An idea would be to implement a Chat room from Here into the site.
Re: Suggestion
We have one, of sorts:
irc://irc.efnet.org/beretta
This has been discussed many times, problem is lack of interest. If need be, I'm in that chat now...

Re: Suggestion
Well, you have to have an IRC chat program installed. I am using the FF chatzilla add-on.

Ahh, I figured that. I'll re-install Firefox, for some reason it's no longer on my computer :O. Thanks Ace
Re: Suggestion
Would it be possible to have the chat linked somewhere in plain view? Or maybe switch to a different chat that's easier to get to. An example would be XAT. (This question is directed towards Moderators)

Re: Suggestion
There was a chat here when I joined. I think Will took it off do to lack of use.

Re: Suggestion
There was no chat implemented when I took over hosting and management. As for implementing one now, this was covered in the other thread and will not be done.

Re: Suggestion
What if we gave Beretta.net the ability to place all users in a chat room upon log on?
Example:
User logs in, Beretta.net is like normal, but now, there is a bar across the bottom of the web page, it stays at the bottom as you scroll, and it has little built in button to open and close the chat window.
Opening the chat window makes it take up the bottom right 1/4 of the web page, maybe we could even have a resize option?
If the chat window is minimized, then a little red balloon can appear with a number when someone types in chat?
I think this would be most effective, seeing as having a separate tab open for the chat room would be an extra step that most might not take.
And this way, we are all added to the chat room upon log on.
No having to wait for a user to click to open chat room.

Re: Suggestion
There is two main problems that I have with chat.
1. Lots of BS(too much)
2. Lots of good and useful info that gets lost because it can't be saved.

Re: Suggestion
When we migrate the host and IF you as the community put up some money to upgrade the forum then we might be able to purchase some sort of setup that would have a chat window similar to 60degreev6's forum. It's just a random chat box to use when your online. BUT I will emphasize... if we start a collection for the forum upgrade and we don't get any donations then we are stuck with what we have. We don't have income to just buy a new forum base and it's not free, at least not something like your describing.
