Speaker Lighting
Speaker Lighting - I have a 94 Z26 with the front speakers
located on the
floor by the driver and passenger's feet (the way it came from the
factory).
To do this mod you need: a philips scremdriver, some thick gooy glue
like
caulking sort of, and a pair of scissors.
a. Remover the speaker floor housing from the corner, with the screwdriver.
b. If you remove the speaker from that you will see that there are slits
in
the plastic for the sound to go through, just like a grille to protect
it.
The carpet, however, covers these slits. Use the scissors to
cut this carpet
off of the speaker cover in a nice circle, so it looks good.
Now you can see
the speaker throught the cover, and it probably sounds a lot clearer
too.
c. Now for the lighting part. By the speakers there is also curtousy
lights
too. You can change those with colored bulbs to make them look
"cooler".
d. Remove the kick pannel that the bulbs are mounted in. You will
see that
they are held in place simply by a little twist, i think, its been
a while.
Untwist the bulb so that you can move them but they are still connected
and
light up.
e. Now, in the speaker cover that you have removed there is enough room
to
fit the bulbs into and mount in place with the gooey glue. You
may want to
drill a hole or cut away some of the plastic to do this more easily.
The
idea is that your speakers will light up and be noticed whenever the
door
opens.
f. Let the glue dry. Put the speaker and kick pannel back in place.
That is the best that I can describe this process, but if that doesn't
work
but you still know what I'm trying to say, let me know and I'll try
and get
some pictures together for you. It looks really good and it gets
a lot of
compliments. Especially when you put in some shiny Cerwin Vega
4x6's.
As far as pictures go, I have access to a bunch of computer stuff, except
for a scanner.
For now here is an old pic of the inside of my car, you can see the
holes cut in the speakers,
its the big black circle - Figure 1
