sold my problem plagued 1990 2.2 yesterday...got it to the point where it was once again running decent..some kid got it for local school driving and to work.....i wanted to thank all of you that have helped my off and on with advice.....this forum has been great and the member's even Greater!!! tha...

no codes ...the fuel pump and filter were just replaced as well as the mas sensor,,,it levels out and runs and idles fine (10,000)if i unplug the o2 (but not sure for how long)....i put in a new Ãâ€Ã...

okay after a bunch of testing by a close friend ..it has been determined that my 2.2 's computer is thinking that it is running a rich mix...so as i drive it leans itself out to the point that itwants to stall(and Has) then it realize's that it is running too lean and loads up again to run rich...ca...

woke up from a dream and remembered my sons s10 2.8 had a similar problem...bought a new temp control sensor and   dropped it off to the shop...told em to install it and it would fire...by dumb *** luck,,it did!!!..only problen is now...the new fuel filter and pump and mas sensor had no effect on th...

still no luck...getting fuel thru the injector with no problem...spark...fuel...and no fire....beats the crap out of me.....

stupid shop has had my 1990 for almost one month they replaced the fuel pump and filter for an alleged high fuel pressure problem....the also replaced the map sensor.....they cannot get it to fire up ..with out hosing down the throttle body with fluid...they told me they are getting fuel and spark b...

naw it was running rich prior to the fuel pump change over...afterwards ..it is doing the "will not fire " routine......what i figure is once the new  fuel filter ..map sensor and  fuel pump were put in...the ecm needs to be rebooted to orginal  preset settings..otherwise it will try to op...

shop has had my 2.2 1990 for a week...went in running with 10 k rpm but was running rich...fuel pressure check was running at 23 so they pulled the pump and put in new..according to them it should be gm spec at 13 psi which is what it is....have spark and getting fuel but will not fire unless thrott...

putting in new fuel pump with f/p regulator and filter today...map sensor was replaced as well.....see what happens after all of this is done....thanks for the advice..ps the fuel return line was clear

have a 1990 2.2 with 90 k on it...like most people i have replaced countless parts and sensors on these pos's...i just put in plugs..new o2..decarbed the egr and intake..pvc and air filters....had it crap out on me with a very strange fluxuating idle...towed in in to a shop and the only thing they c...

just started to happen..when making turns i get from the passenger side a tension type sound ..not a clunck but like something is being stretched beyond it's reach..i am guessing a ball joint,,...turned out to be a half shaft!!

okay ..thanks for the replies i will check the easy 1st...if i spray at the base of the throttle body  at the intake with starting fluid and here a rise in the rpm i think that should tell me if the gasket is bad wouldnt ya think?

just replaced the pvc..new 02 ..cleaned the egr..new air filter...had intake gasket replaced..new ecm installed..new mas..new coolant temp sensor...new plugs...wire's...yup...just going from a full stop like if your at a light or at a slight roll and you put the gas to the floor  fast is when it bog...

not sure if this is realted or not..but my kids s-10 2.8 wouldnt hold an idle and stall out..turned out to be the temp control sensor...seems the ecm was setup to run the fuel delivery thru that sensor....hence bad sensor no fuel......juts a thought

after putting a bunch of stuff into my 1990 2.2 tbi  i had a guy tell me last night my problem may infact be a leaking gasket at the thorttle body...fluxuating idle and bogging down at a rapid acceleration are the symptoms..other wise if i take off like a little old lady it runs just fine...is this ...
